CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
 Once you have finished baking, remove plug from electrical outlet. Leave top lid open so grids begin to cool. Never take your waffle maker apart for cleaning. Simply brush crumbs from grooves, and absorb any excess cooking oil by wiping with a dry cloth or paper towel. You may clean the grids by wiping with a damp cloth to prevent staining and sticking from batter or oil buildup. Be certain grids have cooled completely before cleaning. If batter adheres to plates, simply pour a little cooking oil onto the baked batter and let stand approximately 5 minutes, thus allowing it to soften for easy removal. To clean exterior, wipe with a soft dry cloth. Never use an abrasive cleanser or harsh pad.

STORAGE
When waffle making is completed, simply store your maker with the cord wrapped securely around base. Plug prongs fit into the special grooves on the side of the waffle maker. For compact storage, stand waffle maker on opening end so Cuisinart logo is facing you. The waffle maker has been designed with a special latching feature so the lid stays closed during storage.

TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT WAFFLES
Cuisinart recommends the heat setting #3 for golden brown waffles. If you prefer crisper, darker waffles, increase the browning control to setting #4 or 5. For evenly filled waffles, pour the batter onto the center of the lower grid and close the cover. We recommend using 1/2 cup batter per waffle for evenly filled waffles. Waffles are best when made to order, but baked waffles may be kept warm in a 200°F oven. Place in a baking pan or wrap in foil while in the oven. Waffles wrapped in foil may lose their crispiness. Baked waffles may be frozen. Allow to cool completely, then place in plastic food storage bag. Use waxed paper to keep waffles separated. Reheat in a toaster or toaster oven when ready to use.

In our testing, this machine produced waffles similar in taste and texture to higher-priced models, but for a fraction of the cost. We were especially impressed that every time we used one of the Round Classic's five different shade settings, it reliably produced the same level of crispiness. We've found that this kind of consistency is generally associated with a much larger price tag. 
Unfortunately, the Cuisinart Round Classic's low cost does come with some drawbacks. We felt that this machine's construction was notably lower-quality. For example, the unit itself feels poorly balanced, causing us to worry that it could tip over, and the control dials don't seem to be 100% accurate. It also lacks any indicator, so it will take some trial and error to figure out how long it takes to heat up and how long it takes to cook a waffle. If you're looking to make waffles an every weekend tradition, it's likely worth paying extra for a model that doesn't have these drawbacks. Like most small waffle makers, it takes some experimentation to figure out how much batter to pour (it will overflow messily if you pour too much) and which temperature setting works best for your recipe and preferences (I currently have it one step below highest). And it does help to periodically hit the grids with some cooking spray to keep waffles from sticking. The maker says they've weighted the lid to help expanding batter flow into all areas of the grid. I say more weight would help

I'd recommend a relatively high-oil batter, and even so you may find that waffles start to stick to the grid unless you hit it with a spray oil every few waffles. After years of use, that adhesion may become severe enough to start becoming a safety hazard; if you are ever temped to pry the machine open with a knife while it's still plugged in, or the cover starts pulling away from the grid, it's time to replace the machine before someone gets hurt

Good for the price..

 It still works to make waffles, but the base and handle is plastic and I wonder if it's going to break too. Good news: I called Cuisinart and with proof of purchase there was no problem for them to send me a new replacement. Hope the new one doesn’t break.

 I don't want to have to buy a new waffle maker every 6 months, especially since everything else about it works fine, but I don't want to be ingesting the nonstick coating either. I wish Cuisinart would make this unit with a ceramic or more durable finish. I don't want a Belgium style waffle maker, but they seem to be the only ones with a ceramic coating.

One Serious Flaw

 This was the first CuisineArt product I ever bought but was disappointed. It was difficult to judge how much batter to pour and when it overflowed there was no try to catch the mess and the batter went into the crevices around the plates and was very difficult to clean up. Also, when you open the waffle iron, the steam burns your hand. My waffle stuck to the plates and as I tried to loosen it, the steam burned me

 It could be that it is seasoned a bit but something this inexpensive doesn't seem like it will have the best non-stick coating on it in the first place. Unlike cast-iron for example. I'm still quite happy with this. I will add that I do not get the spillage that people seem to get in the images

 I think it is important to adjust the batter portion to get it to a point where you don't get spillage. I also think the batter matters. I didn't use the basic batter recipe.  Pros: Price Works Makes classic waffles instead of those thick Belgium ones

 I left the waffle on there a bit too long but you know, it is a throw away because it was the first I made out of the box (after wiping the iron down) and I wasn't about to eat that.  I posted some pictures. The first one shows the waffle a bit darker than what I like and stuck to the top. That was tossed

 It was that moment that I realized I hated waffle irons or that I recall hating them. What a hot mess, right?  Attempt 3: Well this is going a bit better. I increased the time to "4"and waited. I used ½ cup of batter and lifted the lid slightly

 The third time it turns green, you've got a nice crispy waffle! If you're not paying attention and it goes four or five cycles? Well it's a darker brown, but still just fine and none more crispy. For reference, I use plain ol' Bisquick waffle batter. Results will vary, I'm sure, with different batters. So I'm giving it four stars, because of course it'd be even better if it just worked with one cycle, but now that I now its mysterious ways, I'm very happy with it

 As others have commented, there was an unpleasant chemical smell the first few runs that eventually went away. Probably a thorough wipe down with a moist cloth and/or soft bristled brush would help here. Or, y'know, remove the plates and put them in the dishwasher first. ;P So

 Not only are the plates not removable, but as you can see from the picture, there is an open slot that the temperature knob slides through. Batter often spills onto the knob and into that slot, and there is really no way to clean it properly. Water needs to be involved here, and I have to be really careful not to spill any into that slot, even when that slot is what I need to clean. I'm sure there's a nasty crust of dried and old batter inside, and eventually I'm going to spill a combination of batter and water into there that is going to short the thing out

The Cuisinart waffle iron reflects a disturbing trend to squeeze the last cent of profit out of consumers by cheapening the design of an appliance until it barely functions.
