It still works to make waffles, but the base and handle is plastic and I wonder if it's going to break too. Good news: I called Cuisinart and with proof of purchase there was no problem for them to send me a new replacement. Hope the new one doesn’t break.

Perhaps they could have designed that interface better, but hey - it works, I understand now why it feels loose, but it's just fine, and so I no longer care about that feature. I reassembled the unit and made breakfast. Yum! I recommend this iron, ESPECIALLY for the price! a definite bargain, in my opinion.

Spent a lot of time looking for the right one to start with and due to the reviews here on this site plus the price, I was convinced this would be the one.

even when we had it on the maximum heat setting. This new waffle iron works perfectly. Glad that Cuisinart keeps this product on the market because it's just the size for our needs.

I was torn between this one, the Oyster one that makes 1 1/2 inch waffles, and the Waring Pro double waffle maker. The latter was like $75-$80 and said it weighed over 10 pounds!!! Which is fine if you want to lug that thing around to your girlfriends/boyfriends house in your overnight bag. I'm single and will forever be alone so I don't have that problem. But still too heavy to take anywhere in my opinion

Like most small waffle makers, it takes some experimentation to figure out how much batter to pour (it will overflow messily if you pour too much) and which temperature setting works best for your recipe and preferences (I currently have it one step below highest). And it does help to periodically hit the grids with some cooking spray to keep waffles from sticking. The maker says they've weighted the lid to help expanding batter flow into all areas of the grid. I say more weight would help

Gravity, I guess. 3. If you are going to drip batter, try to avoid the area where the two little screws are. It's easy enough to clean it up with a little water and toothpick, but better if you don't have to

what the industry calls "traditional" waffles. It was a challenging finding a machine that didn't make those overwrought Belgian waffles! I find this machine very easy to use. You heat it up, pour in the batter, and it times the correct color waffle for you. It comes with directions and recipes and literally takes about 10 minutes from batter mixing to waffle eating

Electronic timer alerts you one minute before completion of timed cycle. Fairly easy to wipe clean after use, this units design allows you to vertically align the iron portion so that it fits easily on a shelf next to box mixes.

Made the first waffle, followed instructions, waited for the indicator to turn green, it was perfectly formed, did bit stick. Gave it to my husband to do a taste test and he said it tasted fine, the smell did not transfer over to the waffles. So I made the first batch and we ate them, it was so good! And so easy！I tried putting a little oil on the grills as well and it worked too so you can do that if you are afraid of the waffles sticking. But otherwise it doesn't burn as long as you follow the indicator light - pour in the batter when it is green, it'll turn red and take it off only when it turns green again

The construction on this is great, easy to clean, perfect heating element and the flipping motion helps make a perfect waffle every time. Plus its a lot less clunky and takes up way less space than most Belgian waffle makers. The only downside is the timer. Ours worked for the first few weeks and now whenever we start it, the numbers fade as it gets to 1 or 2 minutes and than it's just blank and doesn't beep anymore

The nonstick coating is good and I usually only had to spray it with oil once for the first waffle and nothing would stick to it. However, here are the reasons I am giving it 1 star: 1) The done light is insanely inaccurate, particularly on the high settings. I usually had to wait an extra minute after it turned green before the waffle was really browned. 2) The lip around the edge of the waffle shape on the iron is too shallow allowing lots of batter to leak out instead of pushing the lid up which brings me to the next item

This is really not a big deal, I just set a different timer. The nonstick ceramic is easily the best part of this waffle maker - it really is nonstick. I have found that I do have to lightly spray the waffle iron when I'm making waffles with stuff in them (usually chocolate chips for my kid), otherwise the waffles tend to split down the middle, with half on each side. Sometimes I don't bother spraying even then, because the waffles still taste good

As others have commented, there was an unpleasant chemical smell the first few runs that eventually went away. Probably a thorough wipe down with a moist cloth and/or soft bristled brush would help here. Or, y'know, remove the plates and put them in the dishwasher first. ;P So

Wait for steam to taper. To remove the waffle I just open the lid, wedge a plate inside the maker and flip the contents onto the plate. Easy as pie. Or waffles

For 20 years I used a Farberware 800 waffle iron that performed flawlessly and made excellent waffles until it finally failed. That one cost twice the price and lasted a mere three years before going to pieces. It was "Pro" in name only. Presto took a simpler and possibly more durable approach: Engineer the hinge on a traditional counter-top Belgian waffle maker so it can flip 180 degrees and let gravity work its special magic
