 Now these AA batteries aren't included but you can always just buy a pack and leave it in your bag if you're going to be using the battery pack. Your pump is also going to come with four five ounce bottles and what I really love about these bottles is that the five ounce line is right here so essentially you're able to fit a little bit more than five ounces into these bottles when you're pumping. You're also going to get four lids for your bottles which are going to be really nice for sealing off your milk when you're all done pumping and I really love this feature because sometimes I'm pumping and I don't feel like getting up and this is just really convenient that I'm able to just seal off my milk and leave it right where I am. I exclusively pump, baby girl is 6 months old. I plan(ned) on continuing pumping until she was at least 1 but I have already burned through two Medela Swing breast pumps. 

Keep in mind I do use the damn thing like 5 times a day but TWO of them? The first one still actually works but will randomly shut off (at 1 minute in, multiple times in a session, or not at all??) and I have to turn it back on to finish pumping. So I bought another one because I had all the extra parts for it, seemed easy enough. Well my second one stopped suctioning properly and I've only had it for like 3 months... 


So I've decided I need a better one. I don't care how expensive. At this rate I'll burn through another 2 before I'm done pumping and I'm not having that. Any recommendations? 

Also has anyone ever rented a pump before? If so would you recommend it? Thank you in advance.

Desperate for suggestions for breast pumps

 This isn't oly my experience, but the experience of my BFing support group, which is 900 people strong.  CONS -After using it approximately 500-600 times, the motor is wearing out. It is much louder than it was when I first started using it. It now wakes my husband if I try and pump in the middle of the night

 That's only ever happened when I wasn't really paying attention to what I was doing. I just hooked up and you know normally I'm watching something on my iPad or something like that and all of a sudden I'm like why isn't there any milk in the bottles and that's why it's just because those little membranes are just sticking to the valve. So overall I've been really happy with my Madeleine pump and style pump. Medela Pump in Style Advanced (original): this was my first pump I owned it was the gold standard for breast pumps for many years until Spectra came on the market. A lot of people still swear by this pump. But please note that this is NOT the same as the new Pump in Style MaxFlow. I liked this pump alright but it hurt my nipples

Medela Swing: single electric pump. Love this pump. It's battery powered and small, which makes it portable. I love using it on my slacker boob

Medela Swing Maxi: double electric breast pump. Rechargeable. I really wanted to love this breast pump because I loved the original Swing so much. It's the same pump but rechargeable and double instead of single

Ameda Platinum: this is a hospital grade pump I used when my baby was in the NICU. I really like this pump but it's probably only available in hospitals. I doubt it can even be rented. I like the pump parts for it

But Medela changed the flanges on their newer pumps (including the Medela Pump in Style MaxFlow) to this weird contraption that has short flanges and my nipples hit the back of the flange regardless of the size. Tore my nipples up

 You can add extra parts or bottles and connectors that you could use to pump directly into different brands of bottles and you can add that all into your baby list as well. There's a few different ways you can get your hands on this pump. You could buy it of course. You could add it to your baby list or I used a company that went through my insurance called Aeroflow and it was delivered to my door and it's just worked out really well for me

 I picked the same model. I've really had a lot of success with it so I definitely hope that this video was informative and helpful in your decision to choose a breast pump.

In need of opinions

I bought this breast pump based on a recommendation from someone and really wanted to love it. However, I found this breast pump to be okay. As I was working with a lactation consultant, she recommended the spectra and love it so much more. Here’s my list of pros and cons for this product

 Pros: -It’s compact and has accessories perfect for travel or work. My baby was in the NICU for a couple weeks and the cooler and ice pack was perfect for transporting milk from home to the hospital for my daughter. -It includes a convenient battery pack in the event an outlet is not accessible. -Simple and easy to use -Has breast shields that actually fit (I had to buy separate breast shields for my spectra) -Comfortable to use Cons: -Does not provide as good of a suction as my spectra which leads to significantly less milk pumped -No display to show suction power (didn’t think this would be useful, but it is) -No timer to show how long I’ve been pumping (very useful) -Pretty loud machine for being so small -Doesn’t work as well as the other breast pumps I’ve tried Hopefully this helps someone else when deciding what breast pump to purchase!

 It also does have a cycle rate of 50 to 78 whereas a nursing baby has a suck rate of 45 to 55 times a minute so it's going to be pretty effective for you. It is also an open system and it's only intended to be one user. Breast pump companies can't expect a lot if you're going to charge a lot for a breast pump. I feel like it's the same thing with car seats

 Now if your insurance company does cover a breast pump, I would say 99% of insurances cover this breast pump. It is one of the most popular breast pumps out there so I wouldn't be surprised if it's on your list of ones that are covered. If your insurance covers it, I would venture to say it's probably going to cost you nothing. I know sometimes they charge for an upgrade or whatever but it should probably be free underneath your insurance
