Of all watches I have owned, this watch receives the most compliments by far, especially by non-watch people. To me that is a true unbiased look that is not influenced by the watch community. To me this is one of the best looking Chronographs ever designed. Other that are up there are Rolex Daytona (multiple times), Zenith El Primero and the Speedmaster

In terms of watch for dollars, it's a terrible bargain. It's obviously great in resale terms, but I don't wear watches for the next owner. I'd take a lightly used Pelagos or Planet Ocean (both around $4k) before spending my money on a Submariner. Or a BB58 if it fit my wrist

Great mechanical chronos are rare and expensive. Honestly, rather than settling, I waited until I could afford a Speedy or Zenith El Primero and chose one of those two. As hard as it is, I'd just save for the one you really want rather than blow a huge chunk to settle on something that's going to lose a ton of value.

Perfect travel watch. I take this and this watch only on all of my overseas travel – functional, robust, don’t have to stress about banging it up, don’t have to worry about it getting stolen.
