 So with the new Omega Speedmaster, a lot of it isn't entirely new, but when you're dealing with an icon like the Speedmaster, that's probably a good thing. There are certainly some highlights though in terms of the new movement, but I think the number one star of the show is the bracelet. I, personally again am a fan of this. I think this is an improvement

This last point is going to be perhaps the most controversial one in the video, but yes, you can swim with a Speedmaster. If you follow watch meme accounts on Instagram, then you'll likely have seen a meme or two or ten about the Speedmaster's lack of water resistance

 But modern speedmasters have 50 meters of water resistance which is considered safe for a dip in the pool. Just make sure not to use the pushers or crown when it's submerged, otherwise your speedmaster might turn into a seamaster. Now that that's settled, let's wrap this thing up. Today we are going to take a look at one of my personal favorite models and a model that has been long standing in their archive as well as their current catalog with the Aorus Big Crown Pointer date with this one on a bracelet. Now, this version we're going to be looking at today features a classic black dial, a stainless steel bracelet perhaps the most iconic configuration of the Aorus collection. And if you're a regular visitor of this review channel, we certainly have covered quite a bit of Big Crown Pointer Date models in the past, most notably the maroon dial variant, as well as looking at the Roberto Clemente edition one of my favorite models from the brand and this is also gonna be a model that's gonna have quite a bit of versatility on its side considering that dial variation now jumping into this watch on the wrist, we have a 40 millimeter case diameter version here at 11

 Now let's take a look at one of the most predominant and iconic design elements of this case, and that is going to be the coin edge bezel, which really provides this model a standout vintage look. Having a lot of just issues, sometimes with Etta and sourcing those movements when you're doing things at the scale that Oars is doing them at, this is commonly why you're going to find them going in this direction. In terms of what you're going to be seeing from the specifications of this movement, looking at a 28 800 vibration per hour beat rate or four, Hertz does feature hacking and hand winding, so hacking again, stopping the second hand when you pull out the crown to the farthest position and for a power reserve, comes with the standard 38 hours that comes with these selita movements. With roots back to 1938, the Big Crown Pointer Date is one of the most iconic designs from Aorus and one of my personal favorites as well. In recent years we have seen a variety of different iterations, dials, case, materials and sizes. However, I think many wanted a design that split the difference of sizing say something around 38 millimeters while also being available with that kind of more standard solid caliber on the inside to make it very price competitive. So in this video, we're looking at a brand new creation from the Aorus Big Crown Pointer date family with the Servo Volante

 In the more recent Caliber 403 Power models released last year, Modern Aorus is also known for its environmentally friendly positioning, really specializing in that type of sustainability. having produced collaborative timepieces such as the Upcycle Whale Shark, Gmt and others with prominent ocean conservation associations with this new non-limited take on the Big Crown, Auris is highlighting its relationship with Trevo Vellante, a Swiss leather goods manufacturer founded in 2017 that utilizes sustainable Wild Swiss Deer leather in producing a range of luxury leather goods, including the well done straps on each of these new Big Crown models. Each of the three dials in this collection features a color inspired by alpine hues combined with an appealing foume effect. And while we have all three in hand for the comparison here, we'll focus on mostly the blue dial because I just find it most visually striking

This is because Oris stuffed the watch with tons of little details that play to the watch’s heritage and then paired them with others that subvert the idea of the super-accurate vintage reissue (albeit with pastel-like dial colors). And since the basic design takes inspiration from a pilot’s watch from the 1930s, it certainly has enough roguish charm to be considered casual, but there’s so much dignity and refinement present here that it’ll play nicely with a sweater or a suit. This is to say nothing of the fact that it’s packing an obscure mechanical complication and will cost you only $1,600

 Its lugs are chunkier, sportier and given an industrial-like satin finishing. The dial font is inspired by early mid-century typefaces, but it’s still very crisp and contemporary. The strap, oddly enough, feels very modern, too — it’s made from an all-natural vegetable tanning process (millennials love sustainability!) and seems like the kind of thing you’d pay $150 for on Mr. Porter or Hodinkee

Overall though, these silly movements that they're nice reliable movements that you know now they're just supplying them for all horse washes that I'm familiar with, so you see them quite frequently. Have had no trouble with them in my time handling them and didn't have any trouble with my time with this watch. So what are my overall thoughts of this watch? Is it perfect? No

 Cool retro design from a great Swiss independent brands. Been doing it since 1904 and a very interesting just use of that pointer date function. so if you don't see very often and I think it's very cool and a great watch to consider for someone that has a budget around this one thousand two thousand dollar range and is looking for in everyday watch.  When the crown is unscrewed, the rotor has an interesting touch of red that I can't help but think makes the watch look a little bit I don't know, maybe cheaper compared to many of the rats. Just when you flip this watch over, it kind of has this very regal type of look and retro look that I love. and I think just this kind of weird touch of red on the rotor just kind of does make it look a little bit cheaper with the design.  The Coronet style is also match on the case back with very similar grooves on the back of the case and then in addition a beautiful seven millimeter crown hence the name thick crown here that also has some ridging and threading within it that I think does kind of match this overall style that we see with the bezel. [Music] So this particular reference here features a blueish grade dial featuring Arabic our numerals a railway style minute track with the date being displayed on the outermost part of the dial. When the crown is unscrewed, the rotor has an interesting touch of red that I can't help but think makes the watch look a little bit I don't know, maybe cheaper compared to many of the rats.
