My budget is <US$4,000. I've listened to three amps in my price range so far (all on the same set of speakers from a dealer):

This was a very bright sounding amp. It was detailed enough and seemed not to roll off the high end, which was nice. The mids seemed to get lost just a little in certain songs, though. The style is *something* and I'm not sure I love it, but it is unique

This was the most "neutral" amp of the three. It's not integrated (so I'd need a preamp) but is least expensive, so that helps. I do like that it was more flat in terms of sound, but it wasn't as engaging as the other two, although that might be by design.

Full tube amp. This was probably the most unique sounding (and highest priced). Very intimate sound that really emphasized the mids without reducing the lows and highs.

Just bought a Samsung HW-S60T Soundbar. It’s pretty decent with the exception of its comically short power cord. I’ve looked around for extensions with no success, whether from Samsung or elsewhere. Anyone have any leads? I’m thinking my next best bet would be to just cut the cord and connect it to a longer cable, but I’ve never soldered wire in my life. Where could I go to get this done professionally? Computer or electronics repair shop?

Ideally, I'd like both the stereo (CD/tape/AM/FM) and my turntable to come out of my Edifier speakers, bypassing the Aiwa's speakers. I understand I need a middleman receiver of some kind, but I don't know what. [The Aiwa only has an aux](https://imgur.com/a/Xj0aUIS), so I worry that if that's how it is connected to the receiver, it won't actually output the CD/tape deck, since [those are different settings.](https://imgur.com/a/NxJWQTn)

I was able to play the U-Turn out of the stereo's AUX setting, but the sound was trash.

Any help is appreciated. In terms of budget I don't really care, I suppose less than $300 would be ideal. But if it perfected the setup so I could listen to CDs, tapes, and records through my speakers, I would splurge.

What's up. I'm looking for a portable Bluetooth speaker and came here for some recs. I have a JBL Pulse 3 right now and I've had it for a while but it doesn't really produce the volume and bass that I'd like from a speaker. I like the lights on the pulse 3 but I would much prefer a speaker with better sound delivery than any type of lights. Although, I do like the size of it. I don't have much of a budget. I think I want to do floor speakers they just need to be oak in color but I'm flexible. I have been looking at Klipsch R-625FA but I'm not sure what direction I should go in. It’s never been more apparent that Google filters it’s results until you try to find an integrated amp under $500. There are 4 brands. No more. No less. 

Anyway, does the technology improve in mid-low level amps enough every year that I can justify spending full price? I feel like the better route is to buy something maybe 4 years old for 30-40% less than it was new but I’m reading about the Cambridge Audio axr100 being this magical amp with sound quality that matches amps at twice its price. But I feel like everyone says that.

I'm getting buzzing/static kinda noise on my left speaker at around 250hz,

Same on the right yet a higher pitch sound at around 850 and 1350 hz.

Anyone know the causes of this kind of stuff

Edit: Speakers are Dantax Opus 12's  
I think they're quite old.

Hey guys I have a Schiit Modi which I currently use as a DAC for my Magni. I am about to purchase a Rega Elax-R for my speakers. My question is if there is a detrimental effect on audio quality if I use the output from the magni as a pre-amp for my Rega. Essentially I would only be doing this so that I dont need to swap out cables behind the dac when I want to swap from headphones to speakers.

I know that the modi is probably not a great DAC for this amp, I'll be upgrading that later. Thanks for the advice.

I am looking for a new (integrated optional) amplifier. Right now I'm using my Onkyo receiver but am looking to move the TV to another room and focus on using this as a listening area. I'm not really interested in a DAC or streaming amp, since I have my own DAC and will be using a dedicated PC to stream.

I currently have Bose 2.2 floor speakers that were hand me downs from my father. I have nearly 1000 records and I’ve recently been buying a lot of “audiophile” analog vinyl. I know the speakers I currently have aren’t anything great so I’ve recently been considering upgrading. I’m a college student with a limited budget ($250-$350) and I’m hesitant to spend the money if theres not going to be a big difference in sound quality. I’m looking for input on whether there would be a difference between what I have now and any speakers I could buy within that price range. I’m also looking for speaker recommendations in that price range if the consensus is that there will be a noticeable difference. (I have an AT-LP120 Turntable and an Ortofon Red Cartridge)

 Power Guard prevents your amplifier from clipping and therefore either damaging itself or your speakers and Sentry Monitor ensures there's no shorts in the internal circuitry of the amp again to prevent damage.  One of which is going to select your input of which you have a couple unbalanced options, even a balanced option on this device, and a built-in phono stage, and the Mac built-in phonos actually sound good which is great, and of course your volume control. So what's using the 252 like? Well great, it's a Mac piece, but the way that this product sounds is it does its job well of being a hybrid. There's a little bit of Mac solid state character in here which is going to be that cleaner, more direct sound, but there's also a bit of this preamp in here that's using these tubes. Now with this product, I'd say it leans more heavily toward the solid state side, given that that's how Mac tubes already work, and we do have a solid state power amp on the back

 All the pre-amplification work is done by these four tubes on the front. So you can have that big solid state power but you can still have that sweeter tube sound as these are going to be coloring the input a little bit as they attenuate volume and select your input. I don't know about you but that sounds pretty good to me because I've always enjoyed the cleanliness of solid state but I have to say that there is something about that liquid warmth of a tube amplifier and getting a little bit of both in this product really is that sweet spot for many of us. Another great thing that's indicative of the typical McIntosh quality, which is astronomical levels of quality, is you can see the heat sinks on the end of the back here where our solid state amps are housed

McIntosh MA252 Integrated Amplifier | The Ultimate Retro Hybrid

Proac's are just good speakers and my next speaker will be either Elac actives or dali actives for my study just need to convince my wife the value proposition. Currently most played song is baby shark so enjoy your childless days as much as you can!

I am also looking for a streamer for better integration with spotify as the whole family is using it. 

The sound is full and bass is enough for my large living room. Overall I believe my system is on the warmer side. This weekend I will open some holes on the wall and hide the speakers cables behind the wall as my wife has requested for a better look. I had my speakers on the bookcase but now my kids are older so I decided to use stands and let's see if they will destroy them

New set up with Proac and creek audio

 That'S the clipping. Instead of driving speakers back here, these are 8 ohm loads. These are test loads, so these are simulating speakers. These get really hot to the touch from absorbing all that power, and this is his meter right here, where he's measuring RMS AC voltage at 32, we've even gotten as much as 33 volts out of it, which puts it at like a hundred and thirty six watts

 This is going to be a punishing test for the ma 252 we're gon na. Have our service manager, Tom Kerry own, put it on the service bench and we're gon na drive. It to clipping you're gon na see these green tubes turn yellow. Then we're gon na take it in the sound room and hook it up to some $ 32,000 speakers and see what it can really do all right, we're at the service department here at Brookes Berdan

 The thing about this clipping. This is all even in our order, harmonics, and that goes right through the crossover and Fries your tweeter, because you're increasing the power dramatically. Okay, tweeter, let's go! Listen! Let'S see what it can do into some big speakers in the sound room and our main sound room is for Dan with Jamie the ma 252 hooked up you're running a through a pair of magic, o s threes. These are $ 32,000 speakers, something you wouldn't normally do with a $ 3,500 amplifier

 I'M with our service manager, Tom Kerry Owen, he's going to do some testing here on the Macintosh to punish it, see what it can really do. Well, take the amp up to max patented power Guardi and, as you notice as we're getting toward cuz, we've run out of power. It tells you you hit the rails and if you look at the scope, you'll see it's clipped well, that little bit of clipping isn't so disastrous. But when you clip an amp hard, it will kill your tweeters

This is a small attractive radio with good sound and it does not distort when played at high volume. For my location, it picked up many AM and FM stations with its built-in aerial. An external wire is provided if the built-in aerial doesn't work well. My  not giving it 5 stars is because the high frequencies, although reproduced well, seemed a bit shrill
