Good amp. Very clear and gets loud as you could want. I don’t think there is better entry amp then maranta.

As always, Marantz sound is phenomenal. You just aren't going to push most high end speakers with this model, so buy an amp before you buy high wattage speakers. I am building a budget hifi system and currently have this paired with a Fluance 84 turntable and Polk ES50 speakers and the sound is awesome at moderate volume. Not so good if I go loud, but again, that is because the amp needs more power

 Something and finally would i recommend this to a friend. Well, it really depends if you're a fan of that type of sound signature, that, like bold and weighty and authoritative, sound that is not the most subtle one that is not the most resolving one in the class. Then i would say: go for it if you have speakers that you feel sound a little bit lean, then i would say: go for it if you like its connectivity and it's really rich when it comes to connectivity and you don't need more than one analog line Level input, then, i would say, go for it, but if something that i mentioned during this review sounded like a deal breaker to you, then it's not for you and that's. Okay, that's perfectly fine, but all in all this is a really decent like versatile, integrated amplifier, and i suppose it will make a lot of people happy, especially in a type of entry-level system and matched with speakers that will complement its own sound signature

 So today we are going to talk about modern, ned class d, smaller one and then quickly going to lead you through its features, its connectivity and, of course, how it sounds. So, let's start and first of all, i wanted to mention the build quality itself. It'S completely made out of plastic, it feels quite heavy for for this small thing, but it is plasticky if you knock on it. If you press it a little bit harder, you'll notice it, it's not a big deal

Can NAD D 3020 V2 be the center of your HiFi?

It does what I need it to do, but the bluetooth is a dealbreaker. I've had it for several years, but now my living situation has me closer to other people with phones with bluetooth, and the NAD just lets anyone accidentally connect to it, which changes the source from my optical to BT and I suddenly have to listen to whatever the neighbor is watching on their phone. I can't handle it anymore.

I'm deciding between two used sets:

For \~$200-250: 2x Yamaha NS-555 3-Way Bass Reflex Tower Speakers Black (supposedly 10 years old)

For $200: 2x Cerwin Vega SPL-12 3-way Floor Speakers (also old)

Curious if you think either one is worth it, or if you think it's a bad idea to be buying used speakers.

I know nothing about audio and recently bought the KEF egg active 2.0 speakers and KEF Kube 8b subwoofer on the fly. 
My question regards the connection between the subwoofer and the speakers, which I have connected via a jack to rca cable. The problem is that when turning the setup on, the light on the subwoofer remains red  until I replug the rca cable.  And even after doing so the light will turn red again (and the subwoofer stops working) after 15 minutes or so of usage.

I also have been using some Edifier R1280DB speakers hooked up directly to the TT and have been using bluetooth from my computer to play Hifi Tidal tracks. My question is this. Obviously Bluetooth is terrible (yea, some versions are better, but the cold hard data suggests it nullifies any sound improvements from Tidal or vinyl). I want to play music from my computer or phone to the speakers as well as the TT and be able to apprechiate the HIFI difference. Thus I think I'm looking for a DAC, something for these speakers. (I'd prefer to not pay for for the speakers, but let me know if they are a huge problem)

As well as a DAC i want some headphones that I can use with the DAC portable, and with the turntable at night. Right now I'm using bluetooth headphones and again, I'm trying to move away from that.

 Static pops from speakers as I get up from chair:

I have Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers on my desk, and every time I get up from my office chair they make several horrendous popping (static pop) noises as I lose contact with the seat.

The desk and chair are on carpet on the 2nd floor of an apartment with the sub under the desk. The cable routing has them run on the floor and pass by a metal desk leg.

Am I causing any damage, and if so how do I prevent this?

I have a bit of a puzzle that i'm trying to solve. 

My current setup is a pair of MA Bronze 200's, Rotel A12 and the Rega RP1 TT - sounds fantastic for music. Could not be happier…. BUT.. It sounds pretty average for dialogue in TV and movies. 

Seems to me there is an unavoidable trade-off as my previous (cheap) system sounded great for TV and movies but terrible for music. The old speakers had enormous, over the top bass and so for music it was woofy, loose and kinda fuzzy but great for the rumble effects in movies. The old system also had very harsh mid-range which was perfect for dialogue, but again.. pretty terrible for music.  Obviously I can’t have it both ways, at least not to my listening tastes.

Aside from the differences in speakers, my previous setup also used a cheap old Sony AV receiver as opposed to the Rotel stereo amp I’m using now – obviously the former was designed for home theatre and the latter is for music . That has become very clear.

Considering my priority was music, I’m not displeased at all with the outcome of my recent purchases, although.. I’d like to try and find a way to improve the sound for TV and movies and have the option to add a sub in the future. 

So what do I do?

I see the possible options as follows:

1. Purchase a centre speaker and run it from the amp’s B channel. I’m not sure I can run A+B channels together at the same time, meaning that I would only be listening to the centre and not the L+R speakers. I can run the sub from the pre out on the amp so If I end up buying one I would be able to at least use centre + sub.
2. Purchase a sound bar and run it completely independently with optical input. I would need to find a soundbar with a sub out (Yamaha make a few with this) so I can use it for both music + TV. I would also need to find a dual input sub so that I can run 1st input from amp for music and 2nd input from the soundbar
3. Purchase a soundbar and run it from my amps pre out, this way I can use the soundbar as a centre and run L+R speakers along with it however, I will have no option for adding sub later as the amp only has 1 x analog pre out 
4. Purchase a cheap 5.1 receiver, though i'm not sure i can run the speaker outs to my L+R speakers bottom posts? (Rotel is in top posts) I still might need a centre speaker if it’s the speakers that is the problem as opposed to the amp. Will still need a dual input sub and the wife will not be pleased with another black box in the living room.
5. Suck it up and suffer through using subtitles on everything I watch because I can’t understand anything anyone says

Looking for speakers that will image behind me instead of just 180 degree field in front of me. In other words I'm looking for that holographic wrap-around sound. I've heard that "Phase Tech PC speakers" can do it, but they seem difficult to get hold of. I do have a budget, ideally under $500 but would save more money for the perfect solution

r/audiophile Shopping and Setup Help Desk (2020-09-17)

 It's getting sent straight back to Amazon. That leaves me upping my budget to either the NAD 3020 V2 or the PS Audio Sprout 100.

 It just wasn't my cup of tea in the end. What can you expect to pay for a 30 20 and we're from about $ 100 to as much as 400, and I think they're gon na keep on climbing in price as kind of the aura, and the mystique builds around this little amplifier. Even though again it wasn't for me long term, I'm still gon na say this is a a or a yes for your vintage audio collection, particularly if you're looking for something on the cheap, inexpensive. That'S likely gon na good, sound, pretty good with any speakers

 For me, though, one of the true tests of time and whether or not I'm going to keep an amplifier is to live with it for a while to listen to it for a while over extended listening periods. Kind of when you get home from work, and you turn on the music or it's a Saturday morning, you turn on the music when you're in different moods and what I found with the NAD long term. Is it really, though, as good as it sounds and as accomplished it is for such a low amplifier really wasn't a keeper for me now that might sound a little contradictory. I mean I just said this was a great sounding amplifier, probably make pretty much any speaker's sound good

 Even though again it wasn't for me long term, I'm still gon na say this is a a or a yes for your vintage audio collection, particularly if you're looking for something on the cheap, inexpensive. So what's the story on acquiring the 30 20 I'll keep it short? I was out looking for a pair of 901 so when I happen to come across this little nad amplifier, in fact, he had the little 30 20 power, and I was fascinated one by the clean sound of this little amp
