It came with the DW Remo Controlled Sound Coated Dot. Then I tried an Evans coated G1 and stopped loving the snare. Then I tried a DW Remo Coated Ambassador, and still found it hard to love the snare again.

It'll sound great if it's tuned well with decent heads. Can't go wrong with Evans or Remo. Evans coated G2 is what I have on my toms, with an Emad with the big ring on the bass drum

Looking for a snare head

I absolutely love this head! i use these all the resonate heads for my toms and this go around i used it as my snare batter. and WOW!! i absolutely love the sound i get from these heads! on my snare i have it tuned about a half-step below the reso and i keep the snares on the tight side and the sound is just amazing! and with the toms, i like to pair it with a EC2 on the batter and just wow! this head is one of my favorites!!

 These Remo heads don't tune to well and kinda have a cheap sound. Good for beginners but for someone who knows what they are doing WOULD NOT use these. Btw, the coating came off within a month.

 These heads are great quality, easy to tune, and a great price. I play classic and alternative  rock and these heads are perfect for me.

 When I tune them higher I don't get a lot of unwanted ring and tuning them lower gives them a nice boom. Every drummer wants that specific sound for their style of playing. For years I removed the resonant heads, and pinstripes on the batter with tape, paper towel, and God knows what else to achieve the sound I wanted, I then hatched an idea, why not simplify this? So here's the trick, pinstripes on the resonant side, these beautiful emperors (dear sweet God, get coated, more versatile, more responsive, etc.) on the batter side, and for that final touch, internal drum mufflers (more versatile and adjustable than other forms of muffling)

 For years I removed the resonant heads, and pinstripes on the batter with tape, paper towel, and God knows what else to achieve the sound I wanted, I then hatched an idea, why not simplify this?  WOW!!! is a dramatic difference. Bought a new Pearl kit, came with the generic heads, played them a little until the Remo's arrive, and the sound of the Remo's are 1000% better. With Remo's, the tuning is easier. Only rated it 5 stars because the scale goes no higher

After using Remo drumheads for 50 years, this brand is still the very best. Emperor batter with Ambassador snare side. WOW!!! is a dramatic difference. Bought a new Pearl kit, came with the generic heads, played them a little until the Remo's arrive, and the sound of the Remo's are 1000% better
