Definitely use it to prolong the life of this head. Snare - Evans HD Dry for the top, Snare Side 300 for the bottom. If you want to drop another $23, new snare wires can help too.

Evans has a wide variety, including the Genera, Genera Dry, ST Dry, HD Dry, Heavyweight Dry, and Hydraulic. Remo is less known for "focused" sounding heads, though I've long been tempted to try a Black Suede snare side, which is supposed to reduce overtones. Other low-maintenance options include damping rings, drum dots, or pretty much *anything* but moongel.
