 Even some of the more complex features like using alternative sources to trigger the envelopes or something along those lines, so i think overall, that's a pretty good testament to the design and ui and user experience overall for a pretty complicated synth. I kind of expected walking into this to be something more like my blofeld, which is incredibly powerful, but can be a bit of a nightmare to program and had a bit of a learning curve. This thing is actually very simple, which is great. There is a fair amount of menu, diving involved, but we got some big bright displays here and the layout and controls and all of that and the menu diving experience really seamlessly blend together nicely

 Let me just say that this thing is built like a tank, it's got: lots of nice, big chunky, metal knobs with nice, clicky action on a few of them and overall feels like a pretty premium instrument. It'S also got these big aluminum end caps and a steel case covering all the guts and jiggly bits when it comes to the overall feel and weight. The unit itself is surprisingly hefty and, i think, would really hold up well if you were traveling or touring with it. The only concern i might have is these paddles for the mod and pitch wheels, while they are surprisingly nice to use which i thought would be odd, given that they're pretty different than anything else i'd ever used, i think they could snap off pretty easy if they Were hit the right way because they are plastic, but i think as long as you're careful with it and use common sense, the hydrosynthear would last for a very long time for the keys on the keyboard edition

 I had a hell of a lot of fun doing it.  I'M quite figured that one out so so, if I take the filter off, you can hear there's a lot of character. That'S being added with the filter, so what am i doing in the filter right so in the filter? I filter one is a low-pass gate with quite high resonance, but it has a curious resonance. I also got quite the cutoff lower and then filter too. I'Ve got this is the same kind of filter

 I'Ve set up a patch here that just demonstrates what is going on and how we can route things. What I've got is the CV in modeler and coming in from this lifeforms sp1, and it's coming out of coming out of the sine wave output and it's modulating filter too so [, Music ]. Three with we all know the stereo business going on in the voice, selections, which I can show you here so there's stereo width of d2 and analog flavor, I'm in poly mode, so just sort of doing a bit of extra business there, but also I've got the Mod one output coming out of here are going into the rate of the life-forms 1 and what I'm routing that so, if I can find it right, so it mod 1 in, is going to filter to cut off and then mod wheel, C V

 So anyway, let's have a look at the envelopes, because they've got quite a few tricks up their sleeves as well. Ok, let's take a look, this very simple sign. This is a just a sawtooth one oscillator into envelope with a filter filter is the low pass three lure, which is the custom filter which you could see right there. So now, let's take a look at the envelopes now by default envelope

 I also got quite the cutoff lower and then filter too. I'Ve got this is the same kind of filter. I'Ve got a bit of envelope to give me that two extra sort of attack when I hit harder and the cutoff a fairly low resonance. So if you notice here well, I'm I get a bit more attack when I hit a bit harder

 Now then, moving over 32 is one of those things that got everybody super excited when it was first announced last year and what is it? Well, it's a little desktop synthesizer with your AK format. You can use it like this, which is with it's lovely wooden, end cheeks. It'S got a MIDI input, which is what I'll control it from for the time being. So I can plug that straight in and play it straight from my MIDI keyboard

 A input means I can boost again coming out, so I can start to clip it if I really want to get a bit funky with that, but that's nice and useful, and additionally, while we're at it. Let'S do something else here: let's take the VCO pulse without and put that into the external audio.  Let me show you before I do that, though, I'm just going to plug the keyboard into the filter, cutoff, just to show you that it is possible to actually play the filter, I'm going to plug something into the external audio and then move it right over and We'Re going to so yes, it is possible to play the filter tracking without the oscillator in there at all right. So let's get the VCO going on the LFO here right. So the first thing I'm going to do is I take the keyboard output and I'm going to go into the vc mix. Now the vc makes is a voltage control mixer

 Point on the patch Bay - that's actually quite nifty, because that assignable patch point means that through firmware updates, they can have it do lots of different things. It'S currently got a number of functions anyway, let's take a listen to a voice, starting with a sawtooth nice for the buzz good range on it. Let'S take a listen to the square wave, Oh for a long title variation of this they're moving on to the filter. The filter is actually quite interesting

Hey folks, I'm in the market for a new sound design tool. For background, I primarily make dark ambient/drone and noisy techno, and I already have a Soma Lyra-8 and an Elektron Digitone (which often assumes drum duties—it's awesome for that). Seeing as I don't have a more conventional subtractive analog synth, I'm looking to fill that gap. But I don't want to be limited to conventional, which has drawn me to the world of semi-modular

What Should I Buy? /// Weekly Discussion - August 23, 2021

  I can't get past having separate sequences as parts to a song. It always feels disconnected and hard to polish a full track.  I feel like Ableton *might* help with seeing a track laid out and help with mixing but I'm worried it would add a whole new huge layer of complexity when I'm already still trying to figure out so much.  So would it be easier to work inside a DAW when it comes to mixing and song structure?  Did I mess up by starting to learn music dawless?

 It sounds awesome. One could wish for a second oscillator like the Minitaur, but then the price would be a bit more too. Since it's Eurorack compatible, you can add another oscillator if you are going to use this in a skiff and build on it with other modules. If you want a bass synthesizer though that is stand alone, then perhaps the Minitaur is the way to go
