 You could do chords on it, but you could never do these like evolving pads that i've shown you here today. So this is really a dream come true. I think this is by far the best synth that arturia has ever made ever produced. It sounds really nice

 We have the little noise generator here and we can also set the noise color. So something i like to do is set up a mod here for the mod envelope here and we hit number five here. Noise level - and we use the mod envelope here to increase the level of the noise [ Music ]. So the noise comes in after a little while using the mod envelope that i have set up here on the matrix

 The first thing that of course, jumps out at you is this here: it's the morphe that you use to control your sound in different dimensions. It'S a 3d controller. You could say then, there's of course, the ribbon controller, as well as the keyboard, which is velocity and after touch sensitive, you have the pigeon mod wheels. You also have expression, pedals and sustain pedal inputs on the back [ Music, ], [ Applause, ], and it's of course, possible to use the mod matrix in order to route, for example, the morphe, the 3d controller here or the ribbon here, for example, to different destinations And use it to control, say lfo rates cut off whatever your heart desires, [, Music, ], basically [, Music, ], three in terms of effects they're all digital, so we have a chorus

 I don't know what it will sound like, but as you can see, we're just changing it here for for b now not to forget. We also have the ribbon controller here that we can use and set up so and yeah. We can also use this little pad here this little morphe. We could set up the wheel here to do something using the mod matrix, but let's do the ribbon here

ARTURIA POLYBRUTE — the BEST Arturia synthesizer yet!

 It feels like magic, [, Music ]. Let'S create a really nice sounding monophonic lead patch from scratch: [, Music, ], unison, there's a master cut off, which does exactly what it says. It kind of controls, the cutoff of both filters. However, we can independently wrangle in our filter, sound with either one of these and then adjust that with the overall macro like so

 I actually have two patches in one patch and i'm now going to twist the morph key and go to patch b, which obviously sounds a lot different than patch a. So let's hear this for a second and let's just modify it to something different, [, Music, ]. So this is the b version of the patch [ Laughter, ], [, Music ]. This little piece of wood on the side of the synthesizer here is called the morphe and it is a highly expressive block of wood

 Let'S add a little bit of phaser [, Music, ] and, let's add some reverb. Of course, there's some really nice reverb algorithms. In this synthesizer there are different reverb algorithms like plate and then a whole bunch of alternate ones, bright, plate, room dreamy which is kind of a shimmer [ Music ], and my favorite, i think, is delayed plate this one. Just sounds incredibly epic [ Applause, ], [, Music, ], [ Applause, ], [, Music, ], [, Music, ]

 Something that arturia is getting really good at doing is creating synthesizers that feel like instruments rather than pieces of pro audio gear, and i feel like this is the magnum opus. Of that i want to be completely transparent. I was in communication with arturia regarding the synthesizer before it was finished, not as an influencer but as a consultant, and it turned out way better than i could have ever imagined. But you should know that i am not paid a dime to make this video

I had a Peak for a bit and I don't think there's much about it you can't get ITB, what I liked the most about it was the analog drive and distortion which I'm guessing you won't need much off making ambient music

I mainly use software synths like Omnisphere, Diva, Zebra, etc, as well as the amazing Virus TI2, with Ableton Live and Push 2. I’d like to add a few analog modules to my set up. Out of the OB-6 desktop and the PEAK, which do you think would fit with current setup for space ambient music?

OB-6 or PEAK for ambient?

 You know that in some ways, they're almost too cool for for for polywork, because they sound so good as a model. In fact, if i play uh this sound here uh, i think i've got uh in this bank. Uh amy trip sweet spot, this sweet spot bass. I played it a little bit in the in my kind of brief overview video the base on this is astounding, [, Music, ] and the morph takes us into this other sound, which is a sort of attack, [ Music ]

 It'S a great synth. I can't you know pretend otherwise it's also fairly uncompromising. You know this thing is not cheap. I know it doesn't pretend to be or a try to be cheap

 The tuning on these guys is variable. We can set them to whatever we want, and this is one cool thing that i also didn't really realize where i don't know, if you can see that, but there's a little tiny, yellow circle on certain parameters on the front panel. So if you actually press settings and twist, we can set these extra settings so just run that again settings and twist and we get the sort of the sub parameters for that particular section. So this at the moment is just set to seven semitones

 This bits capacitive. You know, that's your linear travel, but you can move this around to give you three axis of modulation from this, and this is actually linked to uh. The superpower, i suppose that this synthesizer has, which is the morphing. The morphing is the ability to well i'll show you

after browsing the manual online, I am going to say no, this specific thing does not work how you want it 2. 

I am interested in buying a drum machine for simple background noise on film projects. My question is can I load samples I either record or cut out of YouTube videos onto this specific Korg device and then press the buttons in structured ways to make a rhythm. Sorry if this is uneducated, I’m not adept at music nor do I know what drum machines actually do. If it’s not a drum machine that does that and it’s another device can you point me in that direction. Like say, for example, I wanted to repeat a sound of a pig squealing I took from YouTube in a musical way what would I use?

Can I load my own samples on to a Korg KR-55 Pro?

Not worth it. The DX7 is so well emulated on pc and on ios/android that allow for better programming and patch management that getting the hardware is a bit silly for the sound alone, and there are plenty of other, better late 80s / early 90s synths that feature the FX20 or FS style keybeds of the DX7.

For the past several months, I’ve been drooling over Yamaha DX7s. They have the perfect vintage/Mac Demarco sounds and I was wondering what you guys thought about that. Thanks!

What are the best synthesizers in your opinion under 1000$?

Waldorf Pulse 2:  I could never get over the interface on this thing.  Decent sounding synth, but I just can't deal with grid-style interfaces.

Behringer Deepmind 12:  Bought mine because it was cheap.  It's kind of the "bastard child" in my current rig:  I don't dislike it enough to sell it and it's quite useful, I just avoid using it.

Behringer Pro-1:  I consider this a complement to the Bass Station 2:  it has its own tone that makes it distinct, and it has features the BS2 doesn't have in the sound chain.  

Studio Electronics Boomstar Mk.II 4072:  This was one of my bigger regrets.  Built like a tank and sounded great, but it was expensive and honestly the sound just didn't match what I was going for.  It gave an almost "70's" vibe

That next synth purchase isn't going to make you happy.
