They are great bang for your buck. I have owned a couple of yamaha bb series basses and currently have a trbx 305. I was torn between the 305 and the bb435.

It is a very nice color and great quality but i had received it with a damaged tuning nob. One of the string can not be tuned. I need to pay to get it fixed now.

So, after trying a few things like replacing the string, cleaning out the nut slot, etc. I decided to just bring it back to GC to see if I could exchange it for the exact same thing. I knew the odds were slim that they would have that color left, but sure enough they did, and they ordered my replacement. I went to pick the replacement up tonight, brought it home and unpacked it, only to find that not only was it the wrong finish, but also the wrong scale length (this one is a short scale).

BB434 series: Was hesitant to write a review about this one because of shipping quality time and some craftsmanship. Look at the Yamaha BB435 or P35 depending on your budget. They have PJ pickups and are quality instruments.

The Yamaha BB435 would be my first choice if you’re looking for a classic and versatile option. Very good quality for the price and will make you forget about Fender.

The quality of this Yamaha five string guitar has enough potential to make a beginner sound like a pro. So, with that said, it should cost more than it's worth.

After nerding around online I found 2 basses that caught my attention, the SCHECTER STILETTO STEALT 5, and the YAMAHA BB435. The schecter has killer looks, a P style neck pickup and a massive bridge humbacker (really a fan of stingrays players). The yamaha has a more classic vibe with P-J passive pick-ups, and shorter scale ( heard it's better for slap).
