Recommendation for Fender bass that slaps well (budget £2500) live in central london so stores would be appreciated as well
If your set on fender, jazz basses have kinda been the slap sound for decades.
If your open to outside of fender, I also recommend the musicman stingray in the one humbucker config. Tons of space to slap, and has also been the "slap sound"

Stingray vs. Stingray Special
The special has such an amazing mid range that means it will fit in the mix much better and has a more vintage tone. I absolutely adore it but I can't afford it yet so instead I'm using a Sterling with the treble cut and pressure wound strings to emulate it. Imo though the stingray special can do the classic stingray sound easily plus more sounds in a way other models can't do as well.

I hate those Ernie Ball Cobalt Flat Strings
I felt the same way after I put them on my music man stingray. I was like holy crap these are terrible. Plus I had only played labella flat which is silky smooth so eb cobalt flats were just a waste of money. I didn’t play that bass for a few days.
