The only issue with the bass is that the J pickup is a bit noisy, but if you roll it down 1/4, the noise goes away. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with the bass. One last note - Amazon ships these in their factory shipping box, but I had no issues. The hardshell case the bass came packaged in was fine, unblemished and totally safe when it arrived at my door. I would recommend this over any comparably priced bass, and to anyone who wants a passive, vintage-style bass that does the classic P-Bass thing exceedingly well but offers more than any other manufacturer can offer at the price. It's as good as or better than some $900-$1,300 basses I've played. Definitely recommend. And I really don't understand why cheap basses are pushed on beginners: you're gonna need an instrument that makes you want to learn to play it. It's much harder to make a cheap bass sound good

You get an alder body with a maple neck and a rosewood fretboard; already uncommon these days when you have manufacturers charging you much more for basses made with poplar bodies. Folks, poplar is not a tone wood and it is only fit for making bookshelves in your kid’s bedroom. However, what really impresses me about this bass is the build quality, the playability and the tone; it’s a great bass by any measure. This fixed the humming noise unless I max the treble out, in which case I can hear it just slightly again. To sum up, this bass gets 3.5 to 4 stars from me because of the minor imperfections, but it's so fun to play, that I couldn't bring myself to return it, or rate it any lower.
