Kanto YU4

IMO, powered or active speakers are the way to go on a desk. AudioEngine A2 or A5 and Kanto YU4 or YU6 are great options.

For desk near field listening the A2 or YU4 with a sub is a killer setup.

Kanto YU2 or YU4 come in different colours and are fine for nearfield desk setups. The YU4 also come in a passive version if you want to use a separate amp or use them for/with surrounds some day.

This product is packed with features; however, when it comes to the sound these put out I would describe them as lifeless. I would even suggest you could save some more money going with a YU4 if you intend on getting a subwoofer. The biggest advantage of the larger drivers is bass extension, but a subwoofer negates that advantage. YU6 and YU4 share the same tweeter and have similar SPL so ou'd be happy with either. If you got our speaker with an RSL Speedwoofer 10S you'd have a great system for less than $900.

These speakers look and sound great, but they aren't ideal television speakers. It is crap after I raise the volume. Recently I have bought both the Kanto YU4, and the Vanatoo T0 to try out.

Sound is more well rounded than I’m used to, and they make me appreciate mids and highs a lot more. Picks up my phone as soon as I walk in the room. Turns on with the monitor if you have it plugged in via AUX, so great for gamers using monitors instead of tv’s. Just wish there was a little more bass...

These little speakers pack quite a punch, and I love how the look alongside my vintage turntable! Only thing I wish they had is a headphone jack in the back so I can connect headphones directly to my turntable with them acting as a amplifier in the middle.
