In February, I bought myself HP Omen 27i 1440p 165hz IPS monitor for $500 from Best Buy. This is a seriously high quality monitor made with solid metal stand.

Granted, you’ll rarely need to mess with the ports once you’ve gotten the display set up, but with most monitors, you usually rue the day you need to switch something out. A USB-C port for video (or, at the very least, charging devices) would have been welcome, but otherwise this seems to be a well-rounded upgrade, especially if you’ve only had a 1080p TN panel before. Because of those missing ports and depending on the use cases, I sometimes think a gaming-oriented laptop that still has them, such as Lenovo Legion or HP OMEN, makes for a better work computer than some of the purpose-built business or workstation computers out there. Having cable ethernet makes sense if you’re taking advantage of very fast speeds and need a stable connection when sharing the internet with many others.

The HP OMEN 27i is a great gaming monitor. It has an outstanding response time, resulting in clear motion when gaming, as well as low input lag for a responsive gaming experience. Although it supports AMD's FreeSync variable refresh rate technology natively, it's also certified for NVIDIA's G-SYNC compatible technology

I was tossing between getting a desktop or laptop recently. I went with an HP Omen, mainly because with two toddlers I don't have a lot of safe space for a $1500 machine to be sitting out all the time. At least with the laptop I can put it in a cabinet they can't reach.

Pros, its has nice colors and the RGB lighting is nice compared to the Omen 27.

We decided to try out the HP OMEN 27i....and it worked. If you decide to get this monitor or another for your Xbox make sure you’ve set the input detection to auto detect first.

This has to be the cleanest monitor designs to date that I've owned. Would give slightly more than 4 stars but just less than 5 as there is a single dead pixel that would drive only me, a capricorn, nuts.

I'm really happy with my HP Omen 27i. Got it for $400 on a memorial day sale, but wouldn't be disappointed if I had paid more for it.
