Upon doing this all hdr modes became greyed out as well as the vrr, and 1440p was still not there but 1080p. I now set the monitor to manually detect hdmi instead of the auto detect mode. It puts the monitor In 680x480 automatically but you can get out of it by changing the display resolution. Available display options were now:

This has to be the cleanest monitor designs to date that I've owned. Would give slightly more than 4 stars but just less than 5 as there is a single dead pixel that would drive only me, a capricorn, nuts.
