I went to Sam Ash after calling to know if they have any ESP LTD's in stock. When I went, I was given the 2 LTDs I was looking for (EC-256 and EC-1000), and demo'd both of them. They sounded pretty good so I was happy with it.

needs some work to be functioning properly. i sometimes have to shake the jack as the sound fades out. and i have to shake the toggle switch when i switch it to the bridge pick up, but once it works it sounds great.

That guitar has been heavily modded. Although there are EC-1000's out there with Seymour Duncan pickups, this one originally had active EMGs, as you can see a 9V battery compartment in the back. Also the bridge and tailpiece have been changed, they are not original. Plus the chipped paint and questionable neck bow, it is not worth $500.

is good guitar, not as new, okay but has a scratch on the back, small details and the pin to hold the belt are not the originals, but I can not ask more for a used guitar

So if you like single cuts, but want better playability, I think the ESP/LTD Eclipse/EC lines are a great place to look. Pending how you feel about passive/active pickups, they do come with Seymour Duncans on some variants. (Just remember, if the guitar was stock with active pickups, and you want to swap for passives, it will need a bridge ground drilled to get everything from those pickups). My EC-1000 has the humbucker tone I love, with the playability of a metal guitar, and frankly I have a hard time playing anything else.

The nut width is the same as my Ibanez acoustic so switching back and forth is pretty easy without the little hick-ups that usually occur from getting too used to an instrument. Hell, I love their mid range ltds as well, my ec-1000 being one of my favorites. I've enjoyed the strandbergs I've played as well (coworker owns a Salene and the Plini sig). Pretty comfy, although idk about whether I'd pay that much for them personally.
