very blues heavy, airy, open note, a lot of sustain. Um, but you know it takes pedals. Really great it it will conform to your sound

In between those two price points would be D’Angelico guitars their Premier DC guitar is around $800. If you don’t mind buying a used guitar and want your headstock to say Gibson, the now discontinued Studio 335 was an alright guitar.

But if you can go to the incredible effort of flipping a single switch and fiddling with a single tone knob the guitar has a nice tonal range. A [good can make the telecaster rip your ears off or warm the cockles of your heart (see the middle section of the instrumental). However. I think if you're after a different range of sound then my advice would be to try one of the Gibson range (Les Paul, Les Paul Jr, ES-335, SG, &c.) and just go with whichever guitar you enjoy playing the most.

The guitar was in particular need of a fretboard dressing because the fret ends were quite sharp & jagged. I wouldn't expect that from a Gibson ES-335, but those go for \~$3k while my Epiphone was $600.

Any guitar can play any genre. You can play rockabilly on a BC Rich Warlock, or you can play death metal on a Gibson 335. It's entirely up to you.
