There's your look at the reissue of the green Russian big muff from Electro Harmonix.

The Russian Big Muff Pi sounds good but not extraordinary. This pedal is made in China and comparable pedals made there sell for around $30. I also own the current NYC made EHX Big Muff and it sounds better to me, especially for the vintage Sabbath or the Pumpkins tone.

I wanted to mimic the Big Muff tones of my heroes, including Sonic Youth and The Black Keys. But this thing just sounds dull and lifeless. So I picked up a clone by Stomp Under Foot instead. Much better.

Nice solid piece of kit, but wasn't quite as creamy and natural sounding as I am looking for, the search goes on.

This is definitely EHX's best sounding muff to date for bass (aside from the bubble font which can cost $600+). The price point is tough to beat, but if you have the extra cash I'd 110% try the Stomp Under Foot Green Russian, it's truly the best sounding pedal (yes even better than Wren & Cuff Tall ...

If you want a dark tone, this will get you there. In my band setting, the tone falls flat and is difficult to cut through the mix with.

Simple and effective love the fatter growling sounds I was after. It fullfilled my expectations for a change.
