I have bought an ASUS VP249QGR, but it had 4 dead pixels. I replaced it and the new one had 2 dead pixels. So I have returned it and got my money back. I later learned that all 23.8" 144Hz IPS monitors sent in Brazil have PANDA panels, that have a history with frequent dead pixels.

it's wide

can't adjust the height, it's a wide boi, brightness is a PitA to deal with. It's asus, though, you're buying it because it's a strong boi, which it is, 4/5, could blind nearby wildlife.

What is the current “Holy Grail” for monitors in 2021?

It feels more responsive than my old IPS Asus VP249QGR and at least to me it doesn't feel like the colors are any worse. I don't get what black smearing is all about, I hope I never learn it \^\^.
