I'm 6' 1'' 220lbs and as a fellow side sleeper do not recommend the neo air xlite. I bought one because I was told it was the best for taller people but it's a very uncomfortable and narrow pad imo. If weight isn't a huge issue I would go for something heavier and rectangle in shape so it gives you more room for better sleep.

**Location/Trip Description:** Glacier NP North Circle. 7 days. Mid-August. General 3 season backpacking.

Help me choose some equipment for Glacier NP in Aug

4r vs 4.2r of the “regular” Neoair xlite both of those are 12oz. And the xmid seems like best bang for the buck as far as tents go. I have a duplex and a tarp  but the price difference between a 2p xmid and duplex is pretty significant

 It was on sale on Amazon so I ordered it. Immediately after opening the box I was shocked how long and narrow this pad is (as compared to my previous Klymit V2 sleeping pad). I went online and saw that Thermarest NeoAir XLite is listed as 20 inches wide while my Klymit pad was 25inches. That's a whole 5 inches narrower and I knew immediately I might have issues with that

On the contrary, NeoAir XLite is super comfortable! My issue is that it takes quite a few breaths to inflate but I learned quickly that you don't need to inflate it more than halfway as your weight will distribute evenly

 Just to be clear, I am a stomach/side sleeper with one leg slightly raised, which makes my body width well beyond this mat and I would sleep with half of my leg off the mat if I wanted to position myself comfortably, and hence, touch the ground through the night. It wasn't much of an issue in summer, but I know I would be freezing in colder conditions. Because the mat is so narrow, it doesn't work for me. I wish it was 3-5 inches wider

 It was most important to me to save weight as well as be warm and that is exactly what I got. The design is narrow, so if you sprawl out, I would suggest something bigger or wider.  I'm a side sleeper and the extra width and the four inches of thickness definitely helped me get a good night's sleep with this thing. I Paired this with my Ugq Zero Degree quilt and honestly, I'll tell you this is the sweet spot and winter backpacking as far as I'm concerned. if you don't have two hundred dollars to spend on an insulated sleeping pad for cold weather backpacking and cold weather camping, this one does the trick. It's a little heavier, so you're definitely going to pay more in weight than you are in cash, but if you can carry the extra weight I'd say this is pretty common comparable

 But again, that is a consideration if your tent is a smaller footprint type of tent. So again, you can get this for eighty Four Ninety-nine as of December 2019 on Amazon and I Highly recommend it if you are looking for a budget-friendly option to help take you into winter backpacking.

My name is Sue B I'm also known by my trail name Young Naina and today I am doing my first ever gear review of a product that I've had for about a month now and it is the Recharge XL Insulated Sleep Pad made by Perea Outdoor Products. It is almost winter here in New England so it's already been a little down into the lower temperatures which has given me an opportunity to do a real review on this pad. I've used it several times and I just like to go over my experience with it and I haven't seen any videos on anybody who's taking it cold weather backpacking so I wanted to do this review to hopefully somebody make to help somebody else make a decision about making it a purchase and an investment in something like this. So the Perea Outdoor Products Recharge XL insulated Sleeping pad is 23 inches wide

 if you don't have two hundred dollars to spend on an insulated sleeping pad for cold weather backpacking and cold weather camping, this one does the trick. It's a little heavier, so you're definitely going to pay more in weight than you are in cash, but if you can carry the extra weight I'd say this is pretty common comparable. It's made of a really thick material I have a Nemo tensor pad that I use for three season camping and backpacking and that's a nice 25 inches wide I believe but the material is thinner so I Feel that this is a more sturdy material and again, you're gonna pay for that in weight, but you're also not going to pay for it in cash If you're just getting started in winter backpacking and you're trying to find a good solution for your winter gear sleeping setup. I Would recommend this I Had good success with it when we camped in below freezing temperatures

Gear Review: Paria Outdoor Products ReCharge XL Insulated Sleeping Pad

 By carrying two of these instead I'll save almost a pound in weight and $240 in my wallet.  It's going to be tough deciding between taking this (700g) or my S2S Ultralight pad (480g) for solo trips. Sure this one is heavier (700g vs 480g), but the comfort! I don't see taking the Klymit pad out again ever really.

 But it you're looking for an insulated pad, this is probably the best available right now. As much as I love them, I'm having a real hard time justifying keeping my S2S pads right now. By carrying two of these instead I'll save almost a pound in weight and $240 in my wallet.  It's going to be tough deciding between taking this (700g) or my S2S Ultralight pad (480g) for solo trips

 It's quieter (if you care about that). It's 223g lighter. The only real gripe is the inflation valve. But it's far from the worst (that honor would go to Klymit, though I think older Thermarest pads are similar)

  The Recharge XL: * is 15% grams heavier (700g vs 609g, standard stuff sacks and patch kits included) * is $11 (~17%) more expensive * is MUCH more comfortable for a side-sleeper * has a MUCH better inflation/deflation valve * is SLIGHTLY (7%) better insulated * is a good deal easier to fold into thirds lengthwise and roll up to get it back into it's stuff sack * takes a lot of air to blow up!  The increase in comfort is really dramatic to me as a side-sleeper. It makes choosing the Recharge XL a no-brainer. It's just a much better pad.  It's a real shame the inflation/deflation valve isn't compatible with other pump sacks like the Sea to Summit one

But yeah guys, this thing is really cool. and I'm seriously honestly impressed with how well it rolls up, the build, quality of it, just everything about it. I'm really happy with I don't I Don't have any negatives at least in my first impressions of this pad

 So guys, to be totally honest, if I had the choice between this and the Neo air, I would absolutely buy the recharge because this thing, although it's not 12 ounces in weight, you're looking at 20 ounces of weight and they don't use as lightweight of material carrying that extra eight ounces and saving some ounces elsewhere, especially saving a bunch of money and going with this is something that would be really intriguing to me. And it's a product that's going to last and it's designed well. and I Seriously, really impressed with how they have put this together. but if you're looking for a sleeping pad I Honestly feel like this is going to be a really great option

 Now if I want to blow this up with my mouth I've got the option to do that. It's really easy to do. The Perea does also have the option to buy their pump bag that came out with these pads. This is about twenty dollars and I Think that if this is something that you're interested in, it's a great option because this connects directly to the valve itself and then you just fill the bag with air just like blow into it and then roll the bag closed and that won't push the air into the pad itself

 My opinion if you are shopping for a good deal like I was is invest a little bit in your sleep dont but a super cheap pad. I think Paria is in the sweet spot, comfy, pretty light, fairly inexpensive and packs down pretty small.
