 And that's the reason why I actually transitioned away from it here in the office to an Amia chair. It felt like in the tailbone region, it just offers me a bit better support.  One of the reasons why this chair consistently gets picked by our staff as a best overall for most people is because of how adjustable it is. Really, the entire chair will adjust to fit almost any body type. First, specifically, we look at just seat height range because this is going to be one of the more core components of getting a chair set to you. It will go all the way down to 15 and a half inches and up to as high as 20 and a half inches

 The LEAP also has one of the most comfortable backrests and a lot of that comes down to, again, much like the seat, the fact that it is flexible. It moves around with you. Steelcase Leap v2 Review: My Opinion 3 Years Later

 I'm only 5ft 10in so I doubt I should be feeling an open area behind my rear while sitting on this chair.  My next issue also involves the base. It rocks back and forth by about 1/5 of an inch. I'm not sure if that's a conscious design decision but it's annoying when I try to re-position myself in the chair

 If I try to push myself up with my legs the base tips forward and makes the process of readjusting a bit more fatiguing.  My last issue so far is the clicking noise the chair makes when I lean back in it. I understand why my cheap old chair creaked and clicked when I would move back and forth. For this price would expect the chair to operate silently however

Chair is comfortable but a few build quality issues

Just as the title says, I tried the Steelcase Gesture, the Herman Miller Embody Gaming Edition and the Aeron Remastered. Out of these three, I ended up keeping the Aeron and returning the others.

I bought the Gesture, the Embody and the Aeron and only kept the Aeron. AMA!

The chair is offered in leather but the fabric was more suited to resist wear from what I read (plus breathe-ability), plus that was an ungodly expensive option. The chrome around the seat base is something I chose not to upgrade either; the plastic down there and the rest of the chair still looks great. ***Buying a used chair is more frugal, but you aren't likely to find a Gesture. *** I weighed buying the Leap/Aeron used for significantly less and ended up going for the Gesture knowing how much I was going to use it and I don't regret my purchase

Entering year three as a Steelcase Gesture with Headrest owner... still happy. This thing is built like a tank.

Make sure your monitors are raised up, and use a footrest if necessary.  All important.

Ergonomics chair help

 HEADREST IS A MUST! Trust me you won't have buyers remorse. Actually considering buying a second one to have one at home and one at work.

I am truly, madly, passionately, head-over-heels in love with this chair. Had been delaying buying one for years because of the price, and now I regret all of that time lost. It is incredibly customizable (with extreme ease) and feels like it was made for the individual sitting in it. Worth every last cent

Can I marry a chair?!

Given I live in a hot country, this is one of the main things that swayed my decision. I would love the option for a mesh seat like the Aeron, but that would basically be a completely different chair design so I get why Steelcase doesn't offer it. The Gesture wheel base assembly is made of metal, although I've never had a problem with plastic for this component since I'm usually barefoot at home and won't wear the plastic down by scraping it with shoes.

 I purchased my chair from “Advanced Teo Sales,” but I think it ultimately came from Madison Seating, for what that may be worth  Anyway, I’m happy with my purchase . . . as is my back and my wallet

 The particular chair I received had neither an odd smell nor a sloppy spray paint job 2. Installation is indeed pretty easy and there are only 3 pieces that slide into one another; however, I’ve not had a need to take the chair apart (and can’t imagine why I would), so I don’t know how hard a task that would be 3. As to the heaviness of the chair, yep, it’s pretty heavy, but you knew that after reviewing the specs, didn’t you—and, yeah, you may need someone to help you hold up the chair when attempting to align it to the arrows on the base of the chair as you put the chair together 4. The armrests do have a little play in them, as in they cannot be locked into position, but they definitely do slide forward, backward, inward, outward and sideways, and all that is working for me 5

I’m not a fan of the recline mechanism (with the whole sliding seat thing), I never managed to find a proper lower back firmness setting (it was always too much or too little for me) and the adjustable lumbar dug into my back so I ended up removing it. And finally, one problem I should've foreseen before buying it : foam backrests are not a good idea for summer.

 I had to let the chair outgas in the garage for a few days to get rid of upholstery glue smells. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is the state of the arm rests (which could be tighter, there is a lot of play in them) and the action for the back tilt is a little off (leaning back is fine, but the mechanism does not recover quickly when leaning forward).

What would you suggest to get? I'm suffering for some issues/pain/blockages in my sacroiliac joint &amp; some minor scoliolis in my lower back and I sit quite a long time (software dev &amp; gaming lifestyle...)

My options are - but I'm down to look for anything:

\- Haworth Fern (\~650€ w/o extras)

\- Steelcase Please seems to be more readily available

Alternatives to Steelcase Leap

. (5' 7", 145 lbs) it kept feeling like I was bottoming out on the cushion, and yeah I adjusted the chair in all sorts of configurations but my body didn't like it. Ended up selling it.

Recently came across the subreddit in my search for a fix to my broken ass. 

A little background, I've been recently having tailbone pain from sitting in some horrible cheap Ikea chair the past year while working from home. I also have cervical spinal stenosis (C5/C6 and C6/C7) and bilateral hip impingement to round things out a bit. Both are managed fairly well at the moment, so I'm aiming to fix the pain in my ass without disturbing my other issues. I also have a sit/stand Jarvis desk so I'm covered in that area. The tailbone pain starts within 15-20 minutes of sitting in my current chair, and its 1000x worse when I first stand up.

I'm 5' 10", 207 lbs. 

My work offers a WFH discount on two of the three chairs, and these are about as high as I'm comfortable spending at the moment. 

Without further ado... Any thoughts on the below options? Something else to consider?

* Steelcase Leap V2 ($550 new) 
* Haworth Fern ($810 new)
* HM Aeron B ($500 used)
