Rolex Batman vs Rolex Datejust

Just for feature lacking, common look in dive category, and missing expected refinement you’d expect with Rolex- I cant justify paying umpteen’ thousand, when you could buy 3 DateJust’s, or 20 Omega or Citizens..

I had not seen this particular model at other stores and ended up pulling the trigger to buy it. I loved the sharp contrast in the dial and indexes; really was the selling point for me.

Now, what do I like about this piece? Well, everything. I like everything about it. I like the size. I like the 40 millimeter case diameter

10 years ago if you would have told me if I would be in love with a two tone Rolex Datejust I would have laughed!. Fast forward to 2021 and here we are with this beauty strapped to my wrist. I had been considering picking up a piece with some gold in it and was drawn to the classic Datejust with the fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. I stopped by my dealer to inquire and they happened to have this configuration with the newly released fluted motif dial and boy is it a looker!

Rolex goes the extra mile to make their watches last a long time, so they favor parts and materials that don't corrode or look bad over time. The case and bracelet are a symphony of both brushed and polished metal that looks far more expensive than ordinary steel. Although the watch looks very similar to the ever popular Submariner, the lugs are slightly thinner and this watch is only certified to 100m or 330ft of water resistance, which is more than enough for those of us who don't dive professionally. The hour hand can be set independently without stopping the movement, so you can set that to the local time zone without losing time while you make the change

The Datejust is such a versatile piece, as it’s lowkey enough not to be mixed with the Submariner gang, but it’s robust enough to play in the same league. Its timelessness is what keeps me from acquiring new watches, the design just works! You can work in the garden, wash the dishes or dress it up with a suit, it’s always right. Although I love the blue dials on Rolexes, I must say the white dial is just more versatile when it comes to day to day use.
