Pearl Roadshow vs Tama Imperialstar

I finally ended up having to by a whole new high hat unit. Bottom line, if not for these two stripped parts I would have given 4 stars as the drums do sound nice with the exception of the cymbals which are kind of cheap.

Ive had this set for a few months now so here is my in depth unbiased review.. Over all a good sounding set but the cymbals are the bottom bottom of the line meinl's which by the way sound like individual little gongs The snare stand well what can I say but its the worst piece of equipment I think I've ever used its so top heavy the thing teeters way too much and don't even try to angle it towards you unless you want to be supporting it between your knees. I've had it with this stand! It's useless

I'm sure that's nothing a better drum head can fix. Overall it sounds great. You cannot beat the price! The quality of the hardware is good

I have a drum set similar to this, the tama swingstar. I'm pretty sure they are the same thing or atleast very similar. And all I needed to do with my drum set was get some evans G2 coated heads for the batter side of on the toms and put some tape on the bottom of the heads (to add muffling) and it sounds amazing. I would recommend this to any drummer that is just getting started or just wants a new drum set

This kit can easily grow with you though, and I've already made a number of changes/additions. I immediately changed out the stock bass and tom drum heads with Remo heads and the snare with an Evans HD Dry. I also replaced the snare wires with PureSound Custom Pro. I purchased a telescoping cymbal stand and then bought a package of Meinl cymbals and hi-hats

I would rather stick with known kits, that have stood the test of time and have readily available spares.

I'm fully aware that I wasn't buying a top of the line professional drum set, but I still had expectations from pearl. I'm going to kind of break down my reviews into a few sections.
