Omega Planet Ocean vs Rolex Datejust

I've always trusted her and I wanted this watch to be something that she had some say in since it's going to be with us for a long, long time.

The Datejust is such a versatile piece, as it’s lowkey enough not to be mixed with the Submariner gang, but it’s robust enough to play in the same league. Its timelessness is what keeps me from acquiring new watches, the design just works! You can work in the garden, wash the dishes or dress it up with a suit, it’s always right. Although I love the blue dials on Rolexes, I must say the white dial is just more versatile when it comes to day to day use.

I always liked the Omega brand and valued it for the design, and some unique features that just look too good, like broad arrow. This brand also to me feels a bit more innovative, and has an interesting heritage, even if it's mostly used for marketing purposes..

10 years ago if you would have told me if I would be in love with a two tone Rolex Datejust I would have laughed!. Fast forward to 2021 and here we are with this beauty strapped to my wrist. I had been considering picking up a piece with some gold in it and was drawn to the classic Datejust with the fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. I stopped by my dealer to inquire and they happened to have this configuration with the newly released fluted motif dial and boy is it a looker!

Definitely feel like I've made the right choice. Yes it may be controversial owing to the fact that the slide rule is no longer there, but I think it's one of the best looking watches I've seen, and feel very lucky to wear it on my wrist.
