 Something and finally would i recommend this to a friend. Well, it really depends if you're a fan of that type of sound signature, that, like bold and weighty and authoritative, sound that is not the most subtle one that is not the most resolving one in the class. Then i would say: go for it if you have speakers that you feel sound a little bit lean, then i would say: go for it if you like its connectivity and it's really rich when it comes to connectivity and you don't need more than one analog line Level input, then, i would say, go for it, but if something that i mentioned during this review sounded like a deal breaker to you, then it's not for you and that's. Okay, that's perfectly fine, but all in all this is a really decent like versatile, integrated amplifier, and i suppose it will make a lot of people happy, especially in a type of entry-level system and matched with speakers that will complement its own sound signature

 So today we are going to talk about modern, ned class d, smaller one and then quickly going to lead you through its features, its connectivity and, of course, how it sounds. So, let's start and first of all, i wanted to mention the build quality itself. It'S completely made out of plastic, it feels quite heavy for for this small thing, but it is plasticky if you knock on it. If you press it a little bit harder, you'll notice it, it's not a big deal

 If digital files and digital streaming is your main source of music. Finally, i have to say i didn't test its phone input. I don't own any turntables. I don't plan to do that, and this leads me to the last part and that's pairing

 I actually realized that the ned had this warm and full-bodied presentation. That'S not necessarily the most revealing one, but it was really really pleasant and engaging nonetheless. Can NAD D 3020 V2 be the center of your HiFi?

It does what I need it to do, but the bluetooth is a dealbreaker. I've had it for several years, but now my living situation has me closer to other people with phones with bluetooth, and the NAD just lets anyone accidentally connect to it, which changes the source from my optical to BT and I suddenly have to listen to whatever the neighbor is watching on their phone. I can't handle it anymore.

I'm deciding between two used sets:

For \~$200-250: 2x Yamaha NS-555 3-Way Bass Reflex Tower Speakers Black (supposedly 10 years old)

For $200: 2x Cerwin Vega SPL-12 3-way Floor Speakers (also old)

Curious if you think either one is worth it, or if you think it's a bad idea to be buying used speakers.

I know nothing about audio and recently bought the KEF egg active 2.0 speakers and KEF Kube 8b subwoofer on the fly. 
My question regards the connection between the subwoofer and the speakers, which I have connected via a jack to rca cable. The problem is that when turning the setup on, the light on the subwoofer remains red  until I replug the rca cable.  And even after doing so the light will turn red again (and the subwoofer stops working) after 15 minutes or so of usage.

I recently bought a Turntable and have been building a record collection, its a LP120XBT and I'm really enjoying it. I also have been using some Edifier R1280DB speakers hooked up directly to the TT and have been using bluetooth from my computer to play Hifi Tidal tracks. My question is this. Obviously Bluetooth is terrible (yea, some versions are better, but the cold hard data suggests it nullifies any sound improvements from Tidal or vinyl). I want to play music from my computer or phone to the speakers as well as the TT and be able to apprechiate the HIFI difference. Thus I think I'm looking for a DAC, something for these speakers. (I'd prefer to not pay for for the speakers, but let me know if they are a huge problem)

As well as a DAC i want some headphones that I can use with the DAC portable, and with the turntable at night. Right now I'm using bluetooth headphones and again, I'm trying to move away from that.

 Static pops from speakers as I get up from chair:

I have Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers on my desk, and every time I get up from my office chair they make several horrendous popping (static pop) noises as I lose contact with the seat.

The desk and chair are on carpet on the 2nd floor of an apartment with the sub under the desk. The cable routing has them run on the floor and pass by a metal desk leg.

Am I causing any damage, and if so how do I prevent this?

I have a bit of a puzzle that i'm trying to solve. 

My current setup is a pair of MA Bronze 200's, Rotel A12 and the Rega RP1 TT - sounds fantastic for music. Could not be happier…. BUT.. It sounds pretty average for dialogue in TV and movies. 

Seems to me there is an unavoidable trade-off as my previous (cheap) system sounded great for TV and movies but terrible for music. The old speakers had enormous, over the top bass and so for music it was woofy, loose and kinda fuzzy but great for the rumble effects in movies. The old system also had very harsh mid-range which was perfect for dialogue, but again.. pretty terrible for music.  Obviously I can’t have it both ways, at least not to my listening tastes.

Aside from the differences in speakers, my previous setup also used a cheap old Sony AV receiver as opposed to the Rotel stereo amp I’m using now – obviously the former was designed for home theatre and the latter is for music . That has become very clear.

Considering my priority was music, I’m not displeased at all with the outcome of my recent purchases, although.. I’d like to try and find a way to improve the sound for TV and movies and have the option to add a sub in the future. 

So what do I do?

I see the possible options as follows:

1. Purchase a centre speaker and run it from the amp’s B channel. I’m not sure I can run A+B channels together at the same time, meaning that I would only be listening to the centre and not the L+R speakers. I can run the sub from the pre out on the amp so If I end up buying one I would be able to at least use centre + sub.
2. Purchase a sound bar and run it completely independently with optical input. I would need to find a soundbar with a sub out (Yamaha make a few with this) so I can use it for both music + TV. I would also need to find a dual input sub so that I can run 1st input from amp for music and 2nd input from the soundbar
3. Purchase a soundbar and run it from my amps pre out, this way I can use the soundbar as a centre and run L+R speakers along with it however, I will have no option for adding sub later as the amp only has 1 x analog pre out 
4. Purchase a cheap 5.1 receiver, though i'm not sure i can run the speaker outs to my L+R speakers bottom posts? (Rotel is in top posts) I still might need a centre speaker if it’s the speakers that is the problem as opposed to the amp. Will still need a dual input sub and the wife will not be pleased with another black box in the living room.
5. Suck it up and suffer through using subtitles on everything I watch because I can’t understand anything anyone says

I want a device with a button to switch between headphone and speaker output, while keeping the microphone active either way. Also a volume knob would be nice.

What is such a thingy called? I only seem to be finding $200+ DAC/amps. My headphones don't need a DAC.

r/audiophile Shopping and Setup Help Desk (2020-09-17)

 It's getting sent straight back to Amazon. That leaves me upping my budget to either the NAD 3020 V2 or the PS Audio Sprout 100.

 It just wasn't my cup of tea in the end. What can you expect to pay for a 30 20 and we're from about $ 100 to as much as 400, and I think they're gon na keep on climbing in price as kind of the aura, and the mystique builds around this little amplifier. Even though again it wasn't for me long term, I'm still gon na say this is a a or a yes for your vintage audio collection, particularly if you're looking for something on the cheap, inexpensive. That'S likely gon na good, sound, pretty good with any speakers

 For me, though, one of the true tests of time and whether or not I'm going to keep an amplifier is to live with it for a while to listen to it for a while over extended listening periods. Kind of when you get home from work, and you turn on the music or it's a Saturday morning, you turn on the music when you're in different moods and what I found with the NAD long term. Is it really, though, as good as it sounds and as accomplished it is for such a low amplifier really wasn't a keeper for me now that might sound a little contradictory. I mean I just said this was a great sounding amplifier, probably make pretty much any speaker's sound good

 Even though again it wasn't for me long term, I'm still gon na say this is a a or a yes for your vintage audio collection, particularly if you're looking for something on the cheap, inexpensive.  I’m no audiophile but I prefer a warmish sound with a more up-front Bass than the Denon was able to provide. I’m not talking heavy Bass here, I listen to mostly alt-folk and acoustic. I tried it with a variety of artists Including Vampre Weekend, Rising Appalachia, billie Eilish, Two-feet, Emancipator, Emerso Lake and Palmer, and some world music (Anour Brahemm Ablaye Sissoko and more). The Denon failed to reflect the Bass produced by other amps

 If you like crisp, clear instrument separation and prefer the Bass to be pushed back then there is something you will probably find good in the Denon at this price point, but if you like a warmer more up-front sound with a richly toned Bass then you may be sadly disappointed with this amp.

Don’t get me wrong, the Denon provides a feature filled package, including digital inputs, bluetooth and the ability to bypass the digital circuitry for a true analog sound. At the price it delivers clear and somewhat crisp rendition of digital sound with reasonable width and separation of the instruments. Where it let me down was in the soundstage depth. It’s flatish and lacking a presence, with no sound pushing forward into the room

 It was apparently under powered to drive the Bass section of my old Mission 753 towers. Other amps in the price range like the NAD C316BEE v2 had no problem pushing out the Bass. If you like crisp, clear instrument separation and prefer the Bass to be pushed back then there is something you will probably find good in the Denon at this price point, but if you like a warmer more up-front sound with a richly toned Bass then you may be sadly disappointed with this amp.

Lacking the Bass

My problem is that I was using a Denon PMA-600NE amplifer to drive them (outputs 70W per channel at 4 ohms, can output to speakers between 4 and 16 ohms) - it was wayyy too loud. Like, with the volume knob starting at 7 o'clock, by 8 o'clock it was comfortable listening volume. 9 o'clock was far too loud. The main issue with this was that before 9 o'clock on the dial, there was some serious channel imabalance

Hello, I’ve been thinking to get a powered speaker that goes around 400$-600$ per speaker im planning to get a pair.  Is the ev zlx 15p a good speaker to get a pair of it (2 speakers) 

Mainly i will be using the speakers for djing outdoors and indoors and playing (house music or electronic music/ french house music). I want a 15 inch speaker with good             quality/clearance  ,  if theres any recommendations other than the ev zlx 15p  that would be great


Another question is : 
Should i get one speaker from one model, and buy another speaker to pair it with it? Or should i buy just a pair of speaker of the same model.

Hi everyone, hope you're doing well and staying safe. I'm totally blind and going for my first real hi-fi setup i’m based in the UK with a budget of about £1000 but I’m prepared to go slightly over that. I have decided the amp will be the quad audio venna 2 play as it is compact tactile and has a good amount of connections. What I'm not sure about is the speaker choice ideally the whole set up will fit on one table both amp and speakers. For my speaker choice I'm thinking the Dali Oberon 1, I would like something with good bass response as I'm listening to a lot of electronic music. I'm also considering the triangle bro3. What would you recommend in terms of the speaker choice? Your help with this would be most welcome. Thanks very much everyone.

Hi there,

I'm fairly new to audio and I'm having trouble deciding between these two 5" speakers (Mackie MR524 and Fluance AI40) and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with both and can point me in the right direction. I know the Fluance has the edge when it comes to functionality like bluetooth but I'm wondering if that's matched by a sound edge for the Mackies?

I will mostly be using them for near field, low to medium volumes- but my desk is in the main living area and it would be nice to crank them a bit and hit the entire kitchen/living room with music while I cook/chill with the GF. It's a fairly small one bedroom basement suite and there are no walls separating the kitchen, living room, and my desk. Is a 5" powered setup enough juice for that?

My setup is a glass dinner table being used as a desk, will be feeding and controlling with a Schiit Fulla 3.

 I am purchasing a PS Audio Sprout 100. It's specs say that with 8ohm loudspeakers- it can power 50 watts per channel. And with 4ohm loudspeakers it can channel 100 watts per channel.

I'm also looking at the Klipsch RP-600M bookshelf speakers. It's specs say it can handle 100W (cont) and 400W (peak). I think they are saying each speaker can handle this power.

So my question. If I have two 8ohm speakers- do I go by the 4ohm amp rating or the 8ohm? Am I perfectly matching the 100w per channel at 4ohm to each speaker that can handle 100w continuous?
