 Slice by slice, I annihilated the sourdough with the unwavering skill and precision of a ninja. 10/10, would slice again.

 Scouring the internet for the best bread knives that could serve me in my quest, I came across this knife. When it arrived, I was apprehensive to try and use it. Perhaps it was the lack of confidence the baker had in me. I was questioning my abilities and feeling as though the baker had created the final, unconquerable boss: Jalapeño-Cheddar Sourdough

Stop looking at other bread knives.

 Spring for the $4 blade guard if you don't have someplace good to store it because this thing is sharp.

Barely made a crumb while cutting! It has a solid, safe grip and again, left incredibly clean edges!! Definitely recommend! Only con is that it doesn’t come with a guard, I had to order it separately for $4, and it comes tomorrow. I’ll wrap it in a dish towel until then, but otherwise a great purchase for the price!!

So either way it's more ergonomic especially in a knife like this where you're really going to be sort of sawing back and forth and doing a lot of work it makes a nice difference. All high end knives normally have lifetime warranties and the Shun Classic is no exception but what other high end knives don't have and the Shun does have is free sharpening for life. So as a lot of you guys know it costs for straight edges about five bucks an inch and for serrated edges anywhere from eight to ten dollars an inch if you take it to a reputable good sharpener who's using wet stones and is doing it properly

 All high end knives normally have lifetime warranties and the Shun Classic is no exception but what other high end knives don't have and the Shun does have is free sharpening for life. This is a video where I show off the Shun Classic 9" Bread Knife and explain its features.

Essentially, the Shun Classic is the "foundation" or "go-to" of the Shun line. It uses VG-MAX Steel (~61 Hardness) sharpened to a 16 degree angle. On top of that, it has 34 layers of steel folded on each side (68 layers total!), giving it a beautiful damascus design. 

The Classic line also has an extremely ergonomic, "D-Shaped" handle that fits great into right and left hands, reducing fatigue.
