 You can lift it up, it's got a magnet on it, drop it back down. You can also fold it, yeah so you could create into a, if you get the right things, you can lift it up again, lift it up out of the way, yeah pretty cool, pretty potent in that, I like that. Then obviously over here, if I could bring the camera in, so I've got my Mapex Mars Driftwood, yeah so as you can see, wood effects finish on it, I've got, I brought these also from Dave's store, Dave and Sophie at Dave's Drums, thank you very much and Code, obviously Code, they're Code tone adapters they're called, so there's two rings you could put on the stairs, so I'll just, I'll have them off for a minute, so you've got my snare here, it's quite punchy, cut through that, I haven't got it up with, I haven't got it as high as this one, that sounds pretty, it's quite punchy, and then you can put on one head if you want, two, one dampening ring, quite fat, no fat, fat sound, quite heavy hitting, the sound is pretty tight and kicking, you know, then I'll put the other one on the other snare, on the Apollo, the Apollo if it will sit, but it's not going to sit straight because I've actually got the weight on there as well, I've lifted the weight off, very heavy, I'll put both of them on, that's quite solid, so yeah 14 by 6.5 mapex snare, so yeah really nice, looking forward to gigging those two and getting them out there and making a noise, making a racket with Funky Funks, Victoria BB, I've just joined a new band that I'm going to help out for a bit, with Tyn and Sarah, Martin and Mark, so should be pretty good, we're going to a jam night tonight and just air our wares, the Victoria Arms in Wokenham, fans are coming along, so there's the rest of my birthday money, so I managed to get some Evans EC2S heads, so I've got the 10 inch, 12 inch, 14 inch, 16 inch, Toms, 22 inch bass, just quite kicking and heavy, I haven't put my pedals on there because I'm not setting the kit up, just wanted to show you it, and yeah I've actually got this kit, the actual Mars Driftwood kit, I've got the 10, and the 12, and the 16, and over it, I've actually got them from a lovely place in Woken called Woken Drum and Percussion, with the 22 inch bass and the hardware, the mapex hardware, really nice kit, really lovely guy who runs Woken Drum and Percussion, a guy called John, very helpful, very useful, I actually went down there to pick the kit up, I was brought through in Covid, so when he opened up we went down there, spent some money and got that, then for my birthday he was able to source me the 14, because I only had those, and I've always played the 5 piece, so I thought you know what, I wanted to add an extra Tom, and I was lucky enough for John to source me the 14 inch for the kit, which I think he actually had to buy an actual kit to sell me this, which I much appreciate John, if you ever get to see this or hear it, so Woken Drum and Percussion Centre John, well done mate, fantastic, thank you very much, highly recommend them, lovely little cavern, lovely place that's got loads of drum bits, I would highly recommend him to go if you need a lot of drum pieces, new kit etc etc, Dave's Drums, I would also highly recommend him, he's got loads of different bits, kits, all sorts of things, so check him out, Dave's Drums and his lovely wife Sophie, both of you thank you very much for the code rings, obviously snare, 50 quid, 50 quid, wow, but yeah, just love it, just can't wait to actually gig it, hasn't gigged out in the new set up as yet, as we all know Covid etc etc etc, everybody's coming down this bloody cold bug thing now for some reason, even people who's had it, I heard that Charles has got it again, hey bloody ho, but

 So just a quick tour of my, obviously my Mapex Mars kit with this new edition of we have the Apollo Piccolo snare here as you can see it's a wood finish on gold. I've got this from Dave's drums over the weekend, Dave's one stop drum on the weekend, really nice sounding snare. So with that I've got the, it sort of came with the code DNA coated heads on it that David put on there on the batter. On the on the actual snare side you've got the code generic, I think it is, it's a 14 by 3

 The bass drum in particular really is quite thunderous. I love the fact that although these are Remo's UT heads, there's a lot of response there. A very, very clear tone and clean tone which makes for musical playing. You can, thanks to the Sonic Clear heads, you can tune the pitch to exactly where you want it, where it's going to work with the particular piece of music that you're playing or the style of music that you're playing

 The snare strainer deserves a special mention being an actual DW Mag Throw Off design, a super hardware and it's great to see on a drum at this price point. We feel that the Concept Maple shells would make for prime candidates for intermediate and student drummers upgrading from their first drum kits, as well as being a good option for a secondary kit for professional drummers and teachers alike. That said we do feel like the specific finish that we have here is certainly going to appeal more to the younger players out there, though of course there are myriad other options available within the range. Looking at similarly priced offerings from other major manufacturers, we feel like this kit definitely offers good value for money and it definitely should be taken into consideration alongside kits like perhaps the Mapex Armoury and the Pearl Decade kits that we featured here on Drummer's Review

 Speaking of which, the bass drum had plenty of attack and quite a short voice for an unported drum. It's a modern sound with that kind of satisfying character that you expect from a maple drum at this price point. We can imagine that plenty of buyers of these kits will opt to go for a ported front head in order to unleash a far more aggressive sound, especially for live playing. Moving on to the rack toms they had bags of stick attack, with quite a long sustain when mounted using the STM mounting system which is derived from the Big Brother DW kits

Pacific Drums & Percussion, which is part of the DW brand, has been around since 2000, and their Concept Maple Shell Pack, like the one we're looking at today, has been seen kind of as a little brother to the famous DW Collectors maple series drums since their introduction in 2000. Our review shell pack today comes in the limited edition blue lacquer finish, and features a 22x18 inch bass drum, 10x7 and 12x8 inch rack toms, a 16x14 inch floor tom, and a 14x5 inch snare drum

 This whole package comes in at £890 retail, although looking around the street price seems to be closer to £700. Obviously this is a really competitive area of the market, so we were keen to see what they could do. Let's listen to a few more clips and come back for some discussion afterwards. PDP Concept Maple Ltd. Edition 5-Piece Shell Pack - Drummer's Review

 I didn't care for the way it sounded with nothing in it. With the blanket, it makes a really wet sound, which I love. The snare is OK. I didn't care for the overtones when tuned mid-range, but after tuning it up, I found a sound I could deal with

 The drum set came with stock heads which are OK, but not great. Playable, though. I quickly bought Evans G2 Coated heads for batters and Evans G1 Clear for the reso heads. I also tried clear emporer heads as well, but I think this kit sounds best with coated batter heads

Great quality for the price..

 I put some new DW heads on (clear with the white ring dampeners) rather than the PDP logo heads included. The included heads look fine and appear to be clear Remo Ambassadors or very similar, The tuning for the toms was a breeze and I was able to get a really good tone on all three in pretty short order. The 16 inch floor tom really booms. I put an Evans Emad on the 22 inch bass drum and it too has a booming projection and the pedal rubber pad on the hoop was a nice little bonus

 Snare is very good quality. Features 10 lugs and a notably heavy duty coated batter head. It is easy to tune, loud, and sounds solid at different pitches. In conclusion, I'm extremely pleased and impressed with this set

 It is high quality and plays close to a pro-sounding kit, but at a very reasonable price. A great kit that is hard to beat in this price range, especially if maple is your preference.

  The included heads are single-ply basic Remo heads, you'll want to swap them out in a few weeks. These are not the fancy custom DW/Remo heads included on more expensive DW kits. For the 8" tom, you'll need to hook it to a cymbal stand, the other toms and floor toms will stand on their own. Also, you'll need to get a snare stand if you don't already have one

 Be sure to check out YouTube for assembly and tuning tips from DW if you need help. Excellent sound from this kit and the mag-lev throw-off is amazing. This is a beautiful and great kit for the cost. Some assembly required and there are no instructions included. Be sure to check out YouTube for assembly and tuning tips from DW if you need help. Excellent sound from this kit and the mag-lev throw-off is amazing

  Overall, for the price, the quality on these are amazing and the drums feature some DW signature features that are much more affordable than their premium counterparts.

Great kit for the cost

 It sounds better than I expected, looks awesome and is a snap to set up. I bought a small Gibraltar rack for attaching the Toms and my already existing cymbals and stands, etc. It is a miniature compared to my main kit which has just become a beast and way too much to move around. I tried listening to them both with and without the bottom heads, I prefer them wothout the bottoms, but that's just me

 Sooo, I went to a local music store that just happened to be having a 65th Birthday sale and got a killer deal on this PDP 7 piece kit. The finish on it is a flawless and beautiful Dark Cherry to Black Sparkle Fade (they call it red but it's a deeper shade like cherry, gorgeous and my wife's favorite color). We all know how important it is to get the wife's approval on such a purchase. Anyway, I am just starting to put it together so I will be coming back soon for a full review

 I put the snare back together, tuned it, and went for a test run with some military style rudiments and my typical rock hard smacks. The drum lost the ring tone and sounds very very nice. I love the Mag-Throw-Off, had to adjust the tension a bit to my liking. I also tune my resonant head very and the batter head a notch below so I get a really nice warm yet powerful pop from it

 I needed to get a "Gig Kit" as mine is just too big and time consuming to move around. I am really quick at setting it up and it still takes over two hours. Sooo, I went to a local music store that just happened to be having a 65th Birthday sale and got a killer deal on this PDP 7 piece kit. The finish on it is a flawless and beautiful Dark Cherry to Black Sparkle Fade (they call it red but it's a deeper shade like cherry, gorgeous and my wife's favorite color)

First Impressions, Snare is very good

These drums are fantastic and even better when you consider the price. I have a DW Collector's series also and am using these as gigging drums now. They really sound great and mic up very nicely and maintain their tune. I have the 7 piece kit and could not be happier
