Longines Legend Diver vs Seiko SARB033

Another day at the (home) office, another day desk diving in my favorite tool for the job, the Longines Legend Diver. I love the sleek supercompressor case with inner rotating bezel, the retro looks and Milanese mesh bracelet, the simple, classic shape and style, everything. Dresses up better than just about any diver I know of, but is still recognizably a tool watch and wears well casually, in the same way a well-finished field watch does.

It’s not a pure dress-style watch, which has several benefits: it has enough lume on it (on the hands and indices) to make it readable for a short while in low-light situations (though, unlike with most of Seiko’s dive watches, you won’t be able to wear this into a movie theater and still tell the time an hour into the movie); it has decent water resistance (10 bar/100m, suitable for swimming but not diving); and it has 1/5-second and minute markers on the chapter ring. But it’s not _as_ sporty as the Alpinist, which has a screwdown crown and 20 bar/200m of water resistance. Despite this, I find myself liking the crown on the SARB033 more. Pulling the crown on the Alpinist to the first or second position requires much more force than I would like, and I always worry I’m going to damage it when I do so

**Seiko SARB033**: This was the gateway drug that got me into watches. I always thought that automatic watches were cool but I didn't want to get trapped in the world of fashion watches or cheap homages so I did my research and this thing is a near perfect watch.

Now that I’ve got it on a red crocodile print strap, the watch is really growing on me. It’s like a little onyx jewel on your wrist.

Finally got a new strap for my Longines Legend Diver Heritage L37744506. I felt an NDC would be a pretty fitting compliment to a French Marine Dive watch being a strap made of French Marine Paracord.

-Bracelet. This is a point of contention. Some think the bracelet is a “rattler” and others believe it to be a fairly decent one. I’m the latter
