I love the smell of fresh coffee brewing in the morning or pretty much any time of day. I admit it's really easy to get the already ground stuff, but when you grind the beans yourself, that cup of coffee just tastes better - and you feel like you made some effort in the morning grinding - my own beans makes me feel a little bit less lazy.   The prices on this item vary to a ridiculous amount I have since discovered. I have seen it priced from below $10 to over $60. This one was easy and convenient, free shipping, came quickly and was new in a new, unscarred box that would be suitable for a gift, so I am not disappointed, however if you are minding your pennies and not in a hurry, you can save a bob or two by comparison shopping.  The plastic making up the lid is soft and brittle

 This can do and you can do a good course. Medium and fine grind with this. Obviously it's not going to be as good as the as the burr grinder, but you do get what you pay for so um.  DO NOT STORE IN FREEZER!!!!!!!! Just put in a cabinet in the dark.  I know it seems like a bit of trouble to do all of this, but if you don't care about the flavor of the coffee, then you probably wouldn't be looking at a grinder anyway..

 The actual roast and surface oils are all you risk changing/losing from un-ground beans. Store unground beans in a sealed, preferably vacuum sealed, container or zip loc bag. DO NOT STORE IN FREEZER!!!!!!!! Just put in a cabinet in the dark.  But for the fresh herbs for two-people dinner, I actually have to use a bigger food processor.  Overall, it is a nice piece. I like the look and feel of it, and the price is reasonable even I only use it for grinding coffee beans. If you want to grind herbs though, you might want to look for another product

  It is not very easy to clean comparing to a food processor, because the base, where the coffee beans go into, cannot be rinsed under water. The instruction suggests to wipe it clean with dampen cloth. Since I could not figure out how to detach the blade from the base (the manual also does not indicate how, so it is probably not possible), I have to use a paint brush to sweep the inside. It is not a problem for us since we only use it for coffee beans, but if you also want to use it for herbs and spices, the sweeping can be some work

 I like the look and feel of it, and the price is reasonable even I only use it for grinding coffee beans. If you want to grind herbs though, you might want to look for another product.

 Larger machines distribute the aroma and air-rinse a lot of it off, I think. The "masala" coming out of the grinder has a much fresher smell than anything I've made in a grinder/chopper or Vita-mix grinder - To fill or empty, be sure to start upside-down. When emptying, gentle taps will clear the spice off the blades - Avoid the temptation to try parmesan blocks or bread in this. This machine was not designed for moistness at any level
