Kershaw Dune Tanto Neck Sword Knife vs ESEE Knives Izula Neck Knife Gray w/Sheath

The edges easily cleaned up, and it is a nice solid little "stabber". I got them on sale for under $10 each and am happy to have them at that price.

.! So what do I think of the izula.? It's very well made and light, but it's a little small for my main outdoor, fixed blade

this knife is either made from an inferior blade steel or it was not heat treated and tempered properly. I have used and own many Kershaw knives that use less expensive Chinese manufactured steel and they have all performed better than expectations would allow. this knife is the exception and I would return it for a refund if it were not for the fact that I made several attepts to sharpen it in order to save my investment. If I ever encounter a Kershaw that doesn't cut perfect out of the box in the future I will immediately return it because every Kershaw I have bought before has never had this issue

Was planning on replacing sheath with a kydex sheath but this plastic one is very tight without a rattle. Perfect neck knife and can really tell difference in 1095 steel compared to cheap china 440cn.

Sheath is a thin feeling thing and the retention is almost a joke. Just two small tabs near at the bottom to grip the knife handle. Isn’t very strong retention wise. Will probably end up as a pocket knife rather than a neck knife

So I couldn't keep it, I had to return it. I feel like trying to remove it from the sheath would possibly result in me cutting myself it's so tight. I'd probably consider an ESEE product in the future if they made a better sheath, or if it wasn't for daily carry.

This tanto is a nice little backup knife but I'm a little disappointed in Kershaw as I own a Kershaw Lucha and multitool that are excellent quality, but then this one is marked "made in China" this on the other hand is much cheaper made with a less quality steel. The blade locks into the sheath well but there is some slight rattle and I dont know how that will be over time. The blade is unimpressibly sharp but has a good point and will need some work on my knife jig to get a good edge, otherwise the knife fits me well for neck carry and deploys quite well and quickly. Also, be mindful that there is no hilt guard and proper grip must be used for a stab

I love these knives. ESEE makes knives that are tough, functional, and look good, all without breaking the bank. I have used a lot of knives. I have many more expensive and many less

Point is tanto configuration and the handle is well constructed I just wish it was 1" longer. Concealment wise, this is where it shine. It doesn't print and is lightweight enough to not be too noticeable for extended EDC. Sheath fits fine and cord comes with a cord nice safety adjustment clasp

If you do wrap the handle, the instructions give you a good start but at the end of the wrap you may be scratching your head on how to finish it. I loosened up the left side final loop and passed the right tag end trough it and loosened up the right side final loop and passed the left tag end through it and snuged it down real good. Total perfection. When you get there, you'll see what I mean

Would not recommend, knife has nice weight for its size but it's grip leaves a lot to be desired. It also has no finger grooves or protection from your hand sliding on to the blade. As such I can't imagine this being an effective defense tool. If your hands were wet (sweat or blood) your hand would go from the handle on to the blade very easily
