 Added in spaciousness and depth to a speaker that already has it. I was just really impressed something that this sub has that a lot of subs don't this is uh really hard to find, is, is you're getting into some pretty low frequency, music and or movies. You know you hear the subs make the noise, you hear the rumble, but this actually has real texture. I listen to a lot of latin jazz and there's a lot of texture and all the instruments that are on stage and the low frequencies, and i got ta say this - is one of the more textured subs that i've heard at this price point or any price Point really some other cool features that this subwoofer has is

 It'S another reference test for subs that we have i've, had some pretty big subs and played with some pretty big subs. I'M not going to say that this is moving and pressurizing air. The same way that a 15 inch or a 12 inch with a lot of power, but this subwoofer has two 500 watt amplifiers in it, and an opposing driver configuration that really did shine through in the movies for this size. I can't think of anything if you're looking for a microsoft, you know - and you know, even if you're just kind of a movie person not so much for music again, i could not recommend this subwoofer more, but do not take my word for it

 I thought it was a big marketing hype and i got ta say this sub um really surprised me and when i first handled it, i thought it might just a little the build quality on this is just top notch. I mean even for a sub that costs. Fifteen hundred dollars, this thing is a tank. It'S built like a sub that costs actually much more than that uh

 It really is like the perfect aesthetic match for an ls50 meta or the ls50 wireless for which we spent a lot of time. With both those uh doing stereo listening and just seeing how this sub did for music and and tv and movies, but i got ta say that you know even for uh speakers that aren't kef. If you just need a small sub uh, i can't think of any other sub on the market that does what this does this really dips very low? Now it says it has. It goes up to 105 db and it's not doing 11 hertz at that level

KEF KC62 Listening impressions

I've been listening to hires Quobuz albums and I have literally never heard my favourite music like this before. I am now seeimg the allure of teasing every last drop of detail out to enjoy

 Ordered probably the last available KEF KC62 sub in the UK kuntil KEF ship more to retailers in the next 4 weeks). It arrived this afternoon. Wow. This things is bonkers

 I've been listening to hires Quobuz albums and I have literally never heard my favourite music like this before. I am now seeimg the allure of teasing every last drop of detail out to enjoy. It also makes my PS5 sound incredible. Having used a soundbar and sub previously, this is a whole different level

I am absolutely blown away by my KEF gear. The Powernode 2i also does an amazing job. I can't imagine what a Class A amp would sound like. I feel I've reached the perfect place for me and my budget

Small but perfectly formed

 Tweeter in the middle mid base driver around the outside notice, mid bass, because it its main job is to do mid-range and bass. It is still doing that it is not high pass filtered, it's still running at its natural level. I guess it's, i won't say full range because it can't do full range because it only goes down to 47 hertz, but we haven't done anything to the ls50 meta. We haven't high pass filtered those at all, so we're just adding a dose of like

 This is the kind of the way that these things sort of lock together to produce a crossover, and this part here is, what's called a low pass filter. So it only lets low frequencies through. So if we cross the sub over say 45 hertz, and if it's 50 we're going to be up here and if we go back down to 30, we'll move down here. So this is, this area is determined by the low pass filter

 We have to mess around with the gain setting the crossover setting. We have to dial it in well, actually, in this particular case using the the app. I don't want to point to those there because we use the app to do that to integrate this sub with the ls50 wireless 2.

this is a micro subwoofer this is my first 
ever subwoofer normally i don't cover them  

why is that well because up until very 
recently my room had a 35 hertz mode problem  

i've treated it somewhat with these bass traps 
around the room from gik acoustics same company  

that make the wall panels for those that want to 
know that um so now i think i'm ready to tackle a  

subwoofer but i've always kind of been put off by 
subwoofers because they're usually so bloody large  

the size of coffee tables with 10 inch drivers 12 
inch drivers but when kef announced this little  

kind of micro sub i thought yeah that's kind of 
cool that will just tuck away pretty easily and  

won't physically intrude so this thing measures 
roughly 25 centimeters by 25 centimeters by 25  

centimeters and if i turn it around this thing's 
on wheels you can see there's a driver this side  

there's the controls i come back to those in 
the moment and there's a driver this side so  

we've got two force cancelling side woofers if 
you like they measure six and a half inches but  

careful done something quite clever in here in 
getting these two drivers in such a small box  

is that they've had the voice coils sleeve 
over one another so they've got kind of  

sort of one almost like motor system there are 
two amps inside 500 watts each class d so these  

side woofers force force-canceling 
drivers kef call this unicore uni uni  

hyphen core and like a lot of companies they also 
have special names for other things alternate  

again this around here on the driver is probably 
it's quite hard to see but it's called p-flex  

and that's been designed it's almost 
like a sort of crumpled concertina effect  

so that the driver doesn't distort or do weird 
things when such high pressure action is going  

on inside this small cube the um the enclosure 
is extruded aluminium also inside here they  

have something called smart distortion 
control technology that is essentially to  

compensate for the distortions that take place in 
such a high pressure environment if you want to  

know more about the tech inside this i've already 
done a podcast interview with lead designer  

jack ockley-brown i'll put the link here so 
you can dive right in i don't want to weigh  

this video down with endless tech talk there are 
a couple of key specifications to note however  

kef rates the output of this subwoofer at -3 db 
at 11 hertz they also specify that it will do a  

maximum of 105 db but we have to be careful 
here because we shouldn't mix those two up  

it cannot do 105 db at 11 hertz now obviously 
it really is a cinch to get more bass  

in your hi-fi system with a subwoofer like this 
you i mean you can just connect the power lead  

here and then connect it to your amplifier or 
other things we'll talk about those in a moment  

but connect the sound source here plunk it 
down and off you go and you get more bass  

but there's way more to it than that i mean 
because this was my first proper subwoofer  

investigation i really wanted to get into the 
sort of nitty-gritty of how to set this thing up  

because it is it is really not just sort of plug 
and play and off you run not at all there's a lot  

of work to be done to get this sounding good 
within your existing loudspeaker system so  

if this is the natural roll in of the subwoofer so 
let's say it's i don't know like 45 or 50 hertz it  

sort of starts to roll in here and then let's say 
this is the natural roll-off of your loudspeakers
