Junghans Max Bill vs Rolex Datejust

After searching for a few years for a watch that fit my style and my wrist, I finally found the one. This is the Junghans Max Bill Auto 4700.02. After proposing to my now fiancé, they quickly returned the favor with this engraved timepiece

Another thing I like about these vintage Max Bills is that, for one, they are relatively rare, but especially that they (seem to) either come in stainless steel or goldplated cases (edit: there was also a 14k gold case version that I was not aware of before). I'm not too fond of gp, but it is generally a bit of a challenge to find a vintage Junghans watch from the 1950's/1960's in a steel case (all steel; not chrome plated).

I had not seen this particular model at other stores and ended up pulling the trigger to buy it. I loved the sharp contrast in the dial and indexes; really was the selling point for me.

I have owned the Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope for a while now and still love it today as much as the first time I saw it. Of all watches I have owned, this watch receives the most compliments by far, especially by non-watch people. To me that is a true unbiased look that is not influenced by the watch community. To me this is one of the best looking Chronographs ever designed

10 years ago if you would have told me if I would be in love with a two tone Rolex Datejust I would have laughed!. Fast forward to 2021 and here we are with this beauty strapped to my wrist. I had been considering picking up a piece with some gold in it and was drawn to the classic Datejust with the fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. I stopped by my dealer to inquire and they happened to have this configuration with the newly released fluted motif dial and boy is it a looker!
