Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classic vs Lange 1

The reason why I really love this caliber is that it is perfectly shaped to the iconic case of a Reverso, unlike the newer automatic movements that you can find on some Reverso models. There is something so enjoyable with a watch being well thought and designed from beginning to end with a movement that compliments the case and is well proportioned.

As I read more into the brand, the Lange 1 was the piece that jumped out at me. Its asymmetric dial layout was compelling, looking balanced without being balanced. Finishing was top-notch too, with the beautifully adorned 3/4 plate and usual bells and whistles that have become hallmarks of the Glashutte watchmaker.

Amazing watch! I just purchased a JLC Grand Master Reveil; they make such incredible watches beyond the Reverso models!

Lange & Sohne again in 1990, four years later they launch their first range of watches; Lange 1 is one of the watch launches on October 24, 1994.

JLC Reverso. Dressy to modern standards, but a watch designed to play polo can certainly handle a visit to the construction site.

I saw the Lange Datograph and realize that's never gonna happen. But it's the kind of thing I want. I think the Lange 1 has most of what I want in a grail but alas.

Sturdy, sporty, and dressy. All the little details, down to the polishing of the indexes, is just perfect.

I picked up this watch about a week ago, just before Thanksgiving, to celebrate a big promotion. I'd been eyeing the Lange 1 for a while and the moon phase really completes the look. It was refreshing to not have to play any games to get this watch, either. I'd been to the boutique here in NYC a handful of times and stayed in touched with my salesperson, but wasn't quite ready to pull the trigger

I've been searching around for it — seems motivated by the same design thinking as the JLC Reverso (protected face, functionality).

Lange 1 in white gold or platinum. The design is both very elegant and absolutely bursting with flair. I love it. In a similar vein, I love retrograde or jump hour dress watches too
