You can find it for around your budget of $250 and he'll be MUCH happier with that chair long term than any "gaming" chair or cheap Office Max chair.

After looking at several Steelcase options, I came across the Series 1 and thought it hit all my high points - lower lumbar support, adjustments for seat depth and seat height, and adjustable arms. And best of all the price wasn't super ridiculous. I had been paying around $150 per chair I bought at Office Depot - 3 chairs totaling $450 - the $430 for the Series 1 didn't look so bad. So I took a chance on a $430 chair that had zero reviews

Easy to assemble, 10-15 min tops. They were clearly thoughtful about how to make this as convenient as possible for the customer. Overall, chair looks good (simple design), it's stable, and it's adjustable in the right ways except one: The handles only adjust up and down (not sideways). Comfortable for a 6'3" person

Get a real office chair, trust me. Wasted 700 eurs for a noblechairs epic that had so many flaws and in the end broke. Get a Steelcase Series 2 with headrest or a Please V2 for example, they may not look gamer style but your body will thank you because you can adjust so many things on these.

This is more of a seat than a true arm chair. Knowing now what it offers I would buy a less expensive chair with similar qualities. I am learning that sometimes you can trust the NY times column "The Wirecutter", where I read the recommendation for this chair and sometimes you've got to do your own research. The materials that went into manufactoring this chair and the design for sitting comfort don't IMO justify the 400 dollar price tag

A few months later, I live with constant backaches, can never get comfortable while I work, and the adjustable parts are more in the way than not. I've finally given up and concluded that there's no way to adjust this chair to make it comfortable. It just isn't. I paid 3 times as much for this chair as I ever have another

With less wobbly armrests and wheels that roll in style, this thing is smooth silk. You won't have to get used to the seat as it offers great support ...

It also makes a noise when I shift my position in the seat as well. This brings some concerns on how long this chair will last. -The seat is not flat: This is my biggest gripe about this chair. The sides of the seat curve upward

Never owned products from HON before. Pleasantly surprised with this chair. Comfortable, aesthetically pleasing and sturdy chair. Best for home office uses

The best thing about this chair is that it looks good. That's about it. I will never buy another office chair online. NEED to sit in it first

First off - assembly was easy! Only had three screws :) Rolling is extremely smooth! Maybe this is just what any new set of wheels feels like and my chair was old, but this is definitely nice to slide around in. The back is pretty nice. When the product describes itself as having "lumbar support" It's hard to describe but I guess it's like a difference between a back that is cushy and gives-in, versus a region that remains firm; as opposed to a lumbar you'd find in a car or recliner that pushes into your back. The seat is really nice and I appreciate this fabric over the "fake leather" stuff my old chair is currently flaking all of the floor

The way I sit, it's wiggled to the forward position, so I think that makes the chair feel off balanced and too far forward. I think if this was more solid with no wiggle, it wouldn't feel like the chair is too forward. -PROS- Pro: Super easy to put together. Takes maybe 3-5 minutes

Now for the negatives, The arms aren't that solid feeling and can shake when applying pressure. I'm 5'8 and this chair surprisingly doesn't go low enough to provide proper ergonomics for my legs. It only needs to go down a couple more inches but it is what it is. My biggest complaint is the "Chair Base"

The moving and movable arm rests were a detracting feature for me, they do not lock into place and I find them very distracting when I used the arm rests to leverage myself on the the chair or adjusting positions. I'm returning the chair, and the return process so far has been incredibly easy. I work from home and need a chair that is comfortable and going to help relieve my back pain not causing the back pain.
