  The refresh rate is outstanding. I am used to 60hz so the jump to 144hz has been amazing. I have a 2080 and 5950x in my PC but never noticed how smooth it actually was until getting this monitor. That has been the only positive I have gotten out of this

A good budget ultrawide monitor

 If it was a smooth reflective finish you could avoid exposure by angling it. Response time is nice. There's no controller so be prepared to bunch over your desk for hours and hours over the lifetime of this unit. Joystick on back feels extremely cheap

 It supports FreeSync natively&nbsp;and is compatible with NVIDIA's G-SYNC as well. Unfortunately, it has poor ergonomics and sub-par viewing angles, which isn't&nbsp;ideal if you want to share&nbsp;content or&nbsp;play&nbsp;co-op games.  If you plan on using this monitor for productivity or content creation, work in addition to gaming, having the panel being flat, will eliminate any potential distortions from showing flat content on a curved screen, it's also potentially better for those viewing from a larger than normal viewing distance. The rest of the design is typical of gigabytes and non-oris monitors in that it's basic but functional. The panel section on the front does have a rather large chin that perhaps could have been smaller, but the rest is standard. Almost all of the build is covered in some plastic of some form, whether matte black or glossy black, which looks fine and there's no rgb led elements to waste money

If you're on a budget, you won't find something with good HDR picture quality like the other monitors in this recommendation, but you'll at least get excellent gaming performance. The M27Q is like that, as it has a ton of gaming features, and it's excellent for gaming, but its HDR performance is a bit limited. Still, it's decent overall for HDR gaming.

It comes with a 170Hz refresh rate, and it has a quick response time whether you're gaming at its max refresh rate or 60Hz. It has an optional backlight strobing feature to reduce motion blur, which you can use at the same time as the VRR, but there are a few bugs with it, as the feature stops working entirely if the refresh rate drops below 80Hz. It also has great peak brightness and decent reflection handling if you want to use it in a well-lit room, and its wide viewing angles mean the image looks the same from the sides. It also has an sRGB mode with excellent color accuracy, which is important if your work requires accurate colors.

If you don't like an ultrawide format and prefer a 1440p monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio, or if you just want something cheaper, check out the Gigabyte M27Q X. It's a very different monitor from the LG 34GP950G-B because of its smaller screen and higher 240Hz refresh rate. It means that it's an excellent choice for high-frame-rate and competitive gaming if your graphics card can handle a 1440p resolution. While both the LG and the Dell Alienware AW3423DW have native G-SYNC support, this monitor instead has FreeSync support with G-SYNC compatibility, which doesn't make much of a difference if you have an NVIDIA graphics card, except you lose out on a few features.

If you find the 24-inch screen too small on the ViewSonic XG2431, check out something bigger with the Gigabyte M27Q. Besides the larger screen, there are a few differences, as the Gigabyte has a higher 1440p resolution, but the trade-off is that it has a lower 170Hz refresh rate. It means it isn't ideal for high-frame-rate or competitive gaming, but if you want a higher resolution for a sharper image, you'll be happy with this one. Even though its motion handling isn't as good as the ViewSonic, it's still quick with minimal blur trail behind fast-moving objects, and there isn't any overshoot that results in inverse ghosting.

While it supports a high 170Hz refresh rate, this is only possible with a DisplayPort connection using an 8-bit signal and not 10-bit, meaning you'll see some banding in games, but this is only an issue if you want the best picture quality. It also has FreeSync VRR support with G-SYNC compatibility and low input lag, so you get a nearly tear-free and responsive gaming experience. It has a low contrast ratio, meaning blacks look gray in the dark, and if that's important to you, the Dell S2722DGM is a good alternative with higher contrast, but it has worse motion handling.

The Gigabyte M27Q X is the best monitor for Xbox One X. It's an excellent gaming monitor that's mainly designed for PC gaming because it has a fast 240Hz refresh rate, but it still offers excellent performance to use with the Xbox One X. With a 1440p resolution and fast refresh rate, you can use it to play 1440p games up 120 fps from the console, which is great if you like high-frame-rate gaming. It means that text doesn't look as sharp, and because of the Gigabyte's BGR subpixel layout, there are some text clarity issues with programs that don't support it, but overall the text clarity is decent, and this won't be a big issue for most people. Besides that, it has a USB-C input that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode with only 10 W of power delivery, which isn't enough to charge your MacBook, but it at least keeps the battery going while working.

For the most part, there aren't any issues using this monitor with a MacBook, but in certain picture modes, there are flicker issues, so you have to ensure you don't use those modes. It has a few extra features usually found on higher-end models, like its KVM switch and Picture-by-Picture and Picture-in-Picture modes, making it a great choice for productivity and providing good value for a budget monitor.
