Canyon's direct-to-consumer sales model allows them to sell their bikes at prices that most brands can't match, and this is an excellent example of that. At less than 20 lbs with a stiff carbon frame, this svelte bike is a feathery climber with excellent power transfer in or out of the saddle. The middle of the road geometry is comfortable, and the Grail is stable at speed on the descents and remains agile with responsive and predictable handling. The build is well chosen, with a quality Shimano GRX drivetrain and brakes, tubeless wheels and tires, and a unique but comfortable cockpit setup. It was designed for gravel, but it works very well on tarmac and holds its own on mellow singletrack. We feel it is an excellent option for training, racing, and casual rides. It could also work well for overnight bike packing missions and adventure riding.

 You get good value for money, really good equipment. You get Shimano's new gr x, 800 do to group set which is flawless fast roll and ties like wheels, get a nice lookin frame. I loved it. Blue black lightweight stiff and even even the handlebar, has almost won me over after several months of testing, but I'd love to see a regular, normal handlebar and stem offered in this range

 Sided two profiles on the top tube down tube, very clean. Very I don't want to say it, but very German looking, but it's not an ugly bike. It'S a fast looking bike and I've had the bike for quite a few months now and that Hannibal has grown on me, and I mean I've got local mind, they're, testing, bikes and new bikes, and I didn't write it off. I know I had open mind when I tested it when it arrived and I have grown to like the appearance of the handlebar, and the thing is when you're riding a bike honestly look down which you shouldn't do because you're looking we going, you don't relate sit

 Not had to make any changes they reach from the saddle to the hood and the drops is just perfect for me and when I'm riding the bike in the hood, which my favorite position, it feels very similar to an endurance road bike. I think that's the best. Parallel for this bike, when you're trying to decide where it sits in the whole crime like category it's much closer to an endurance, road bike in terms of geometry and fit and how it feels when you're throwing it around corners, some gravel bikes lean much closer to A mountain bike when it comes to geometry, a slacker, longer reach sort of stems which is better if you're doing much more off-roading, much more challenging off-road terrain but leans towards man's bike, with rocky descents and very technical features. But if you're doing high speed well groomed kind of dirt roads and gravel tracks and a lot of Road, then a bike like this, which leans more tools and enjoy road bike, is a natural choice and an easy choice and if you're new to grab bikes, are You coming from a road bike background which many of you are then their transition in terms of handling and difference

 I think me really interesting to see how the bike would look and perform with a normal hand, bar and stem setup. I think they'd probably increase their sales a bit if they offer that as an option and kept this one people. I only had time to get it together and go for a brief shakedown ride, but it did not disappoint!

 Your feelings about the growl will probably boil down largely to how you get on with the hover bar we'll talk about that a bit later, but first of all, let's have a look at this build. This is the 2020 Canyon Grail and it's got grx components where previously it had standard Shimano Road kit on it. If you're used to Schmo knows Road ergonomics, then this stuff will be totally familiar performance wise. It feels just like your usual 105 Ortega group set

 However, a lot of other accessories that you would normally fit on a handlebar won't actually work because there's no round section anywhere on the bar, you can strap things to it if you've got lights with silicon straps they'll work, but anything that uses a straight forward bar Clamp just won't fit, so the Grail is a very capable, very unusual-looking, gravel bike. I completely applaud Canyon for doing something different with it. I don't think many manufacturers would have gone quite this extreme on the handle bar front. That bar does come with some caveats

 You get gravel friendly gearing, so that's a forty six, thirty double crank and an 11 to thirty four, so essentially, almost like a mountain bike cassette at the back gives you a pretty broad range for just about all riding, because it's a double, though the range is Wide enough with enough small steps that it works quite well on the road and off you get a nice set of alloy DT Swiss clinches they're, good width, a tuber is ready out of the box and they are fitted with these Schwalbe g1 white tan wall tires, Which, most importantly, look very cool, but also a very versatile choice of tire. They'Ve got a kind of small knobby block pattern, a little bit like an old kenda small-block, but with round knobs instead of square ones and they're all really really well on tarmac better than you'd think, while still being usefully more aggressive than just a slick off-road. So good all-round choice, if you're using this to kind of do everything bike. Obviously you hardcore, gravel riders may choose to change tires to suit conditions more precisely

 You can buy and your most affordable route into biplane handlebar ownership. I'M going to talk quite a lot about this handle bar, which canyon calls the hover bar, because it's very much the defining feature of this bicycle Canyon set out to build a comfortable high performance, gravel bike. And they could have done that by using suspension. The way specialist did, for example, with the Future Shop, but instead they designed this completely new and quite wacky handle bar, which incorporates lots of flex and also offers a variety of hand

 Only problem that I would say is that when you do take the rear wheel out, sometimes lining the through axle back up with the rear wheel can often be quite difficult and there's certainly an app to it, which takes a bit of time to get a half. Now the spec in terms of weight for this bike, it's a gravel buy. They are slightly heavier you're, never going to get one. That is quite quite as light as a road bike

 The feature of this bike - the stands out, the most is obviously the double bar now Kenyan call this the hover bar and the idea is basically that you have two levels: the first with a bit more compliance, so that when you going over a bit of rough Ground it has a bit of flex, and then it takes out those lumps and bumps so that you don't feel that build-up of fatigue in the shoulders and in your arms and then the lower bar is for. When you want a bit more of a rigid ride and you need a bit more control over the terrain that you're riding for me in practice, I find it worked really well. The first time I saw it I looked at, I thought, my goodness look at the stay of that, but honestly aesthetically, it's really growing on me and practically also. I really do think it does work and it's that little bit of suspension if you like in the front end - and it does take out a few of those blows

 Obviously it's a different system. They'Ve got rid of the quick release with these hydraulic systems.  They also have the perfect amount of grip for a bit of off-road, but not too much so that he can't keep up with your mates on road bikes got a pop. I guess the way around, that is by putting a slightly bigger chain ring on the front. Hello thieves here and this is my first right of the stunning trek: Domani SLR with the latest ceramic goodies, group set, and wheels now. a few weeks ago I gave you a detailed first look at its bike and if you missed it, it's linked above now so you go and watch it. So since then, I've done quite a few miles on a bike, done quite a few rides and I'm gonna share my experience of this bike and how it performs and tell you what I love and what I don't love about this bike. so it goes for the frame, the group set, and the wheels in case you want to skip forward or you just sit back and enjoy the entire video

Trek Domane SLR 500 miles Ride Review, with SRAM Force AXS Wide and Zipp 303 S wheels

I would advise to get a bike with 'race' geometry. In my eyes, the bikes with 'comfort' geometry are also good, but they often come with small gimmicks that add to the cost while not adding that much to comfort (like IsoSpeed on Trek Domane and Futureshock on Specialized Roubaix). Especially with the recent developement in tyre clearance, I think the comfort geometry bikes are not really relevant anymore. Most current 'race' geometry bikes also have quite a big tire clearance

I've been obsessively shopping for my first completely unnecessary proper road bike purchase. Pretty much confused and looking for the support of the online mob - LBS are in the area but I don't really enjoy the experience, in the main feel a lack of interest unless your a cashed up known rider looking to spend $10k+ etc plus they don't carry stock anyway. 

Background: I'm 38 and have been into endurance running for last 10 years branching from trail to the odd marathon and 100km event. I played around with MTB for a while but I lack the technical ability/courage to fully enjoy the down, relatively I crush the climbs. 

Then last winter I splurged out on a Kickr Core for cross training and got myself a second-hand undersized aluminium BMC Teammachine. That was ok, interest probably  dropped off in the end due to the excessive sweat challenges! When summer rolled around I've found myself on the road and loving it (except for working with/against the local traffic)... time will tell if that is maintained but the wallet is open.

I'm 183cm (6ft) / 84cm inseam (33") and very lightweight, 66kg (145)

I live in a valley and an average weekend ride being 60-80km with 1,000-1,300m (4000ft) elevation gain on rolling country roads (only fair quality and condition). Given my running this wouly likely increase with my ability. I don't see club rides (I never group run) or races in my future, or cross over to gravel (my MTB is a Scott Spark so I have that XC capability)... I just want a comfortable and capable road companion

I'd initially corned myself into the "endurance" bike market, but you read the odd commentary that the "race" road bikes are being more comfortable and capable as an all-round bike. Plus they look a whole lot better for your coin. Just concerned the 'fair quality' country roads may find them out a bit

I set out with the goal of going carbon and getting onto disc brakes, I'm not a massive fan of the rim brakes after coming from MTB. Groupset probably can only justify mechanical but if I did find a buy with Di2 I'm almost future-proofed?

If I was going to spend say $5k AUD new/used/runout initially I was keen to get something hot that wasn't necessarily a Giant... maybe a Specialized or European brand that looks every bit its cost and at the very least will look hot on the wall!

Yet at this stage after many U turns I'm looking down the barrel of the Giant Defy models. Value speaks volumes, so do the reviews, and the metallic/black bikes look fine, I just hate the two toned paint jobs in green and oranges! Reminds me of my first hardtail MTB. I was all over a 2021 Giant Defy Advanced Pro 0 (used) at $5k but after reading up on sizing the Large size looked like it might be just a bridge too far for me, and I cant test it as it is out of state.

Throwing that out the window... hit me with suggestions? are you a similar rider, what do you ride?

First Real Road Bike

 There are mounting points for full length fenders front and rear, with the rear offering a removable seat stay bridge for a cleaner look in case you're like me and avoid riding in the rain out of fear of melting Trek off of this bike in seven frame sizes, all of which feature a modern take on a relaxed endurance type fit. Trek Domane AL DISC 4 review: an astounding and affordable all-roader

Well, we bought this yesterday on 9/22/20; The nice thing about this bike is there is a mount pre-installed by Trek, and you can get a little piece to put on your phone or you can put your bike computer on there.  We bought the phone part and it just sticks on to your phone. Really secure, got to ride it yesterday and it has great pick up, lightweight feels like a higher-end road bike, I would recommend it to anyone looking at going from Hybrid, Mountain to a road bike.
