But for and what I needed, the CF was perfect at the bottom of the range.

It’s lighter than my Grail CF SL, even with the fork.

I’d encourage you to consider a Canyon CF SL 7 disc. Carbon fiber with 105 at about $2600. I think carbon fiber and disc is the way to go, and 105 is great and will allow a nice upgrade path.

While I'm not planning to buy just yet, I am looking to get some insights from more experienced Triathletes. So the Canyon CF 8.0 SL seems like a hell of a good deal for €3K, At the moment I ride a Canyon Endurace CF 7.0 and I absolutely love how it rides: smooth, quick acceleration, comfortable, light(ish). So my experience so far with Canyon has been really good.

Cool bike! I was so close to ordering it but decided to wait due to the price, and now i ordered the new grail cf sl 7. Enjoy it man, really unique color and it looks really quick!

Now that the kids are back in school I can get my stamina back up and you all might see me out at some rides/races!. Also, looks like I'll be selling the Canyon Grail CF SL 7.0 now, this one fits so much better for my size and has a lot of extras I wish I'd have bought when I got my Grail.

I have no problem keeping up with anyone I have any business keeping up with. Between 1.5 and 2k is a great budget for a gravel grinder. I like the Canyon Grail 7:

Canyon Ultimate CF SL 7, 1,800$ Shimano 105, with rim brakes, which are arguably better for any entry or a great value bike, easier to fix and maintain. Also, the bike is pretty light.
