Trek Domane

These are very fast wheels on all my local routes now. I Don't have any wind tunnel testing the back that up but hopefully some independent body will ...

All right. So that's our review of the well-priced Trek Damane al Disc 4, which is all new for 2021.

Trek Domane, sold out, local shop tells me that they won't have any in anytime soon. They'll take my $100 deposit though.... Specialized Diverge (a little more gravely than I want) - local shop says Specialized won't take any more new orders.

anyway the LBS helper was SUPER nice and kind. knowledgeable about the bikes for the most part and a seems like a sincerely nice guy. i definitely would like to support them and shop there!. the only road bike in the price range was a trek domane 1.2 for around $1k... it has claris.. seems like things are super picked over and $1k doesn't get much... ill probably aim a bit higher than claris, but for my first bike, where should i shoot for?

Earlier in the year I bought a trek domane al2 and it's been brilliant. With Christmas coming up and my bank account recovering the thought of upgrades has sprung to mind. Id like to get some new wheels and then after that a better groupset. Is this a good idea as I'd like to do the upgrades gradually and can't afford a new bike all at once and the frame itself is quite good.

Hey everyone, I've been looking for a new bike for a while and I think I settled on a Trek Domane. I test rode a 58cm one which was juuuust a hair big, so I wanted to get a 56cm. I've been going back and forth about getting new vs used for a while, but have been browsing facebook and craigslist randomly.

I don't like the way the Trek Domane feels but others, probably most people, love it. I personally love Cannondale. When I was road bike shopping for a ~$3000 road bike about 6 years ago, I rode everything.

Turned out I rather enjoyed it. In my area, about once a week I see Trek Domane and another road bike, can't recall the name; a few Cannondale Synapse and CAAD models; and occasionally a Specialized Roubaix go for sale on Craigslist. I've thought of picking up a Domane just to have something road-dedicated so I don't kill my gravel tires on the road between weekend rides.

I would advise to get a bike with 'race' geometry. In my eyes, the bikes with 'comfort' geometry are also good, but they often come with small gimmicks that add to the cost while not adding that much to comfort (like IsoSpeed on Trek Domane and Futureshock on Specialized Roubaix). Especially with the recent developement in tyre clearance, I think the comfort geometry bikes are not really relevant anymore. Most current 'race' geometry bikes also have quite a big tire clearance.

If you are not racing, it's a trade off worth taking most of the times. Disc brakes have a clear advantage here as with rim calipers you're limited to 28mm, but most road disc frames will go up to 32mm or even slightly more (the Trek Domane has a whopping 38mm tire clearance limit, you can basically use it as a gravel bike :D). I would avoid "aero" bikes (again, unless you're racing) because they usually have thick non round seatposts that are very stiff.
