Bianchi Oltre XR3. Gorgeous as the day is long, disc, killer frame and reasonable groupset. For me, this is the best value for the money (and fits a niche that my other bikes don't). Just waiting on some stimulus money to stimulate some economy :P

Up until a few weeks ago I was set on buying the new Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 when it's released in the US. However, the seat post issue has me questioning this decision. What bike would you purchase if you were in my position with a $4,300 budget? Would you wait for the seat post issue to be resolved by Canyon, or look elsewhere?

What road bike would you buy with a $4,300 budget?

My entry level full carbon bike was a 2019 Pinerallo Angliru with 105 groupset and weighed in at 21.2lbs. It's fit and finish was good enough but not the best. Now jump to my Bianchi Oltre XR3 with Ultegra Di2 and it weighs in just shy of 17lbs and the fit and finish is clearly much better

 I'M gon na go write this this afternoon, but I am NOT gon na go and race this a graft in twin burrell, the this comes back to all the brand's. A lot of these Italian brands like yes, there is like heritage in these frames in these bikes, and that doesn't mean something to me. I'M sure that exists with something like Ferrari. It definitely exists with stuff like CD and campy

 I don't know why, but, like you know, I'll sit there and look at the two bikes and so which one will I ride today ridiculous choice, but I will often just take this out because it just seems more fun. The next thing, guys is, will the look, but I really do love the look of this particular bike, the design, the little flashes of Celeste. I love it and the last thing will at office.  I love this geometry. It'S actually set up lower and longer than the XR 4, so you can theoretically, so I've set this up more aggressively than the XR for that sort of builds into the third thing guys, which is tire clearance. I know that is something that comes off the back of the disc brake thing, but the fact that you can put thirty twos on this road that equivalent are the UCI race and have kept them on. I really really do like running those bigger tires that come on

 They built this bike, the built this really beautiful frame with with countervail technology in different areas and made a really lovely arrow road bike, and then they went in slaps and discs on it and it totally changed the ride. My gut feeling is, most of that is down to the through axles. I very much feel that the through axles on that disc bike, just stiffened up the front end way too much, and now that you have really quite a low and aggressive setup, which you can really make most of with this rim break version. It kind of goes too far on the disc brake version

 Yeah look now and to say: look. I very much feel that this is the bike that Bianchi made.  I have to be really careful to make sure I can keep the power down over that rear wheel, because, obviously we'll the wheels further back. So you have to you, have to actually make sure you've got the power over it. We'Re really used to in the bike industry having the kind of the next run down version, simply being the next rung down version with, like the cheaper common, the more plasticky components. I know that a giant do that kind of thing with their stuff that the component manufacturers do it on a price based thing, you're, just sort of stepping down through what is effectively a price situation

 Today'S is the well it's what I'm actually really really excited about its the Bianchi X, art, 3 rim break and the reason I'm excited about this vlog is well. I'Ve actually ridden this bike a lot, so I've got some really really cement ideas about well how it performs and the other thing is. It'S got some pretty individual characteristics, which I'm really quite excited to tell you guys about straight off the bat guys I just have to stress how good-looking a bike this is. It'S really really hard to get this across in a lot of the images that I've shot, but I have to stress it's a really beautiful looking bike and that matters, because well, people who are looking at Bianchi clearly aesthetic matters - and this is quite special - I'm not A car person so, instead of maybe describe it a little bit like some of the fashion designers, whilst ear XR, fours and those kind of you know, Celeste models

The build is well chosen, with a quality Shimano GRX drivetrain and brakes, tubeless wheels and tires, and a unique but comfortable cockpit setup. It was designed for gravel, but it works very well on tarmac and holds its own on mellow singletrack. We feel it is an excellent option for training, racing, and casual rides. It could also work well for overnight bike packing missions and adventure riding.

 You get good value for money, really good equipment. You get Shimano's new gr x, 800 do to group set which is flawless fast roll and ties like wheels, get a nice lookin frame. I loved it. Blue black lightweight stiff and even even the handlebar, has almost won me over after several months of testing, but I'd love to see a regular, normal handlebar and stem offered in this range

 Sided two profiles on the top tube down tube, very clean. Very I don't want to say it, but very German looking, but it's not an ugly bike. It'S a fast looking bike and I've had the bike for quite a few months now and that Hannibal has grown on me, and I mean I've got local mind, they're, testing, bikes and new bikes, and I didn't write it off. I know I had open mind when I tested it when it arrived and I have grown to like the appearance of the handlebar, and the thing is when you're riding a bike honestly look down which you shouldn't do because you're looking we going, you don't relate sit

 Not had to make any changes they reach from the saddle to the hood and the drops is just perfect for me and when I'm riding the bike in the hood, which my favorite position, it feels very similar to an endurance road bike. I think that's the best. Parallel for this bike, when you're trying to decide where it sits in the whole crime like category it's much closer to an endurance, road bike in terms of geometry and fit and how it feels when you're throwing it around corners, some gravel bikes lean much closer to A mountain bike when it comes to geometry, a slacker, longer reach sort of stems which is better if you're doing much more off-roading, much more challenging off-road terrain but leans towards man's bike, with rocky descents and very technical features. But if you're doing high speed well groomed kind of dirt roads and gravel tracks and a lot of Road, then a bike like this, which leans more tools and enjoy road bike, is a natural choice and an easy choice and if you're new to grab bikes, are You coming from a road bike background which many of you are then their transition in terms of handling and difference

 I think me really interesting to see how the bike would look and perform with a normal hand, bar and stem setup. I think they'd probably increase their sales a bit if they offer that as an option and kept this one people. Canyon Grail CF SL Review - Fastest gravel bike you can buy in 2020?

I only had time to get it together and go for a brief shakedown ride, but it did not disappoint!

 Your feelings about the growl will probably boil down largely to how you get on with the hover bar we'll talk about that a bit later, but first of all, let's have a look at this build. This is the 2020 Canyon Grail and it's got grx components where previously it had standard Shimano Road kit on it. If you're used to Schmo knows Road ergonomics, then this stuff will be totally familiar performance wise. It feels just like your usual 105 Ortega group set

 However, a lot of other accessories that you would normally fit on a handlebar won't actually work because there's no round section anywhere on the bar, you can strap things to it if you've got lights with silicon straps they'll work, but anything that uses a straight forward bar Clamp just won't fit, so the Grail is a very capable, very unusual-looking, gravel bike. I completely applaud Canyon for doing something different with it. I don't think many manufacturers would have gone quite this extreme on the handle bar front. That bar does come with some caveats

 You get gravel friendly gearing, so that's a forty six, thirty double crank and an 11 to thirty four, so essentially, almost like a mountain bike cassette at the back gives you a pretty broad range for just about all riding, because it's a double, though the range is Wide enough with enough small steps that it works quite well on the road and off you get a nice set of alloy DT Swiss clinches they're, good width, a tuber is ready out of the box and they are fitted with these Schwalbe g1 white tan wall tires, Which, most importantly, look very cool, but also a very versatile choice of tire. They'Ve got a kind of small knobby block pattern, a little bit like an old kenda small-block, but with round knobs instead of square ones and they're all really really well on tarmac better than you'd think, while still being usefully more aggressive than just a slick off-road. So good all-round choice, if you're using this to kind of do everything bike. Obviously you hardcore, gravel riders may choose to change tires to suit conditions more precisely

 You can buy and your most affordable route into biplane handlebar ownership. I'M going to talk quite a lot about this handle bar, which canyon calls the hover bar, because it's very much the defining feature of this bicycle Canyon set out to build a comfortable high performance, gravel bike. And they could have done that by using suspension. The way specialist did, for example, with the Future Shop, but instead they designed this completely new and quite wacky handle bar, which incorporates lots of flex and also offers a variety of hand

 Only problem that I would say is that when you do take the rear wheel out, sometimes lining the through axle back up with the rear wheel can often be quite difficult and there's certainly an app to it, which takes a bit of time to get a half. Now the spec in terms of weight for this bike, it's a gravel buy. They are slightly heavier you're, never going to get one. That is quite quite as light as a road bike

 The feature of this bike - the stands out, the most is obviously the double bar now Kenyan call this the hover bar and the idea is basically that you have two levels: the first with a bit more compliance, so that when you going over a bit of rough Ground it has a bit of flex, and then it takes out those lumps and bumps so that you don't feel that build-up of fatigue in the shoulders and in your arms and then the lower bar is for. When you want a bit more of a rigid ride and you need a bit more control over the terrain that you're riding for me in practice, I find it worked really well. The first time I saw it I looked at, I thought, my goodness look at the stay of that, but honestly aesthetically, it's really growing on me and practically also. I really do think it does work and it's that little bit of suspension if you like in the front end - and it does take out a few of those blows

 Obviously it's a different system. They'Ve got rid of the quick release with these hydraulic systems. Only problem that I would say is that when you do take the rear wheel out, sometimes lining the through axle back up with the rear wheel can often be quite difficult and there's certainly an app to it, which takes a bit of time to get a half.  They also have the perfect amount of grip for a bit of off-road, but not too much so that he can't keep up with your mates on road bikes got a pop. I guess the way around, that is by putting a slightly bigger chain ring on the front.
