While the Apollo City is portable, its heavier 42.8-pound weight makes it less than ideal for hauling around longer distances. Its long range of 23 miles is impressive, but that also correlates to an above-average 8 hour charging time. That said, you will be less likely to charge from zero thanks to the longer range, and you can also go longer between charging intervals. Purchase a fast charger, and you can cut the charging time in half. We love the customizable settings, but we found the process to be a bit confusing and had to reference an instructional video. Beyond these gripes, this is a stellar model for the user willing to spend a little more for top-of-the-line performance.

 This isn't a throw it in your trunk just in case you need it one day kind of scooter. It's a you don't need a car kind of scooter. It's meant to be a reliable vehicle alternative for those types of folks that depend on their scooters for everyday transportation. And I'd say Apollo hit that nail on the head and then they sent it through their tires for good measure

 Here you get a 48 volt and 13 and a half amp hour battery in the city for a total capacity of around 650 watt hours. On the Pro, the battery is increased in size to 18 amp hours, giving you closer to 860 watt hours that equates to 30 miles or so of max range on the city. And if you upgrade to the City Pro, you can do closer to 38 miles on a charge. Now, the City is a bit lighter at 57 pounds or 26 kilos, though that's not particularly light and it also has a lower max load capacity of about 220 pounds or 100 kilos

 These are, of course not the cheapest scooters on The block, but I also would not expect them to be. They're designed from the ground up as true commuter vehicles, something that riders can depend on every day. This isn't a throw it in your trunk just in case you need it one day kind of scooter. It's a you don't need a car kind of scooter

Apollo City 2022 electric scooter review: Totally NEW!

If you want a lot more range, I'd get an Apollo City/Zero 9 and wouldn't bother on the 13ah Horizon. The 9/City has front disc brakes which help a lot when you're slowing down from high speeds, better ride, more range, and some kick ass lites. I had a City and it was awesome. So for \~700 you can't beat the Horizon, but if you're spending more get a City

So I narrowed my search down to the 13ah Horizon, going to pull the trigger this week.

 I was seeing if there was another scooter around the $800 area could be a sale price too, that would have dual suspension and longer range then the 13ah horizon willing to spend a little more if worth it. Right now I can get the 13ah horizon for $730 to my door.

latest commuter, the fundamentally reimagined  

dual-motor Apollo City Pro. This thing is 
packed with tech, including three features we've  

never seen before. They're calling it the most 
integrated electric scooter of 2022 and in this  

review we'll show you why. Today we'll examine 
its build, run it through our industry-leading  

performance tests including one test in particular 
that you'll definitely want to stick around to the  

end for. The original single-motor Apollo City 
was a popular commuter because it's fast fun  

and easy to ride. The new City Pro keeps the 
fun and adds dual-motor hill-climbing power, a  

great-looking build and commuter-friendly features 
to make sure you'll always get where you're going.  

When Apollo launched the Phantom in 2021 they 
set a new standard for everything you need in one  

complete package. Now a full year after releasing 
their first all-original scooter they gone even  

further with the City Pro's super clean integrated 
design and attention to detail. A design first,  

highly integrated and painstakingly custom-built 
scooter with sleek lines very little exposed,  

and a fresh paint color. This is a scooter that

It has the first 10 inch tubeless tires we've 
ever seen and they claim to be flat-proof. So

Here's a quick breakdown of our other 
favorite new stuff on the City Pro.  

Turn signals within reach of each thumb. They 
beep and self-cancel so you don't accidentally  

leave them on. The included app tells you how many 
miles of range you have remaining and we tested  

it. It really works. You can also use the app to 
dial in the intensity of acceleration and braking.  

The optional phone mount is pricey at 50 bucks, 
but it's well made and fits the unusual handlebar  

shape. The fenders are really solid and look 
great though front coverage could be improved.  

The three-amp charger takes you from empty 
to full in just four and a half hours.  

The side stand is easy to use and the charge port 
is also easier to use than a typical three-prong  

type. Plus the port seals itself when you're 
not using it. And it was one of the easiest  

scooters to set up right out of the box. One 
plug, two screws, and we were ready to go.  

City commuting isn't about crazy top speeds 
but when you have a scooter that can go faster  

than 25 miles per hour, something magic happens: 
suddenly you have the option to flow with traffic  

when it's safe. Eith an ESG-certified top speed of 
31 miles per hour, the City Pro can definitely get  

you across town faster than a car during rush hour 
traffic. The dual-motor City Pro surprised us,  

by covering nearly the same number of miles as 
the original single-motor version even though they  

both use the same size battery. So it's got enough 
range for the longest city commutes. Acceleration  

is easy to control with the grippy rubber thumb 
throttle and it's deceptively quick. With a 0-15  

time of 2.9 seconds, it's only two tenths behind 
the Apollo Phantom V2 and the Wolf Warrior X Pro  

but the City Pro's power delivery is noticeably 
smoother. Apollo made some surprising choices with  

the City Pros brakes, with some clear benefits. No 
matter how hard you grab them these brakes won't  

put you over the handlebars but they will recharge 
your battery and probably won't ever wear out. The  

left handlebar has a thumb lever that lets you use 
100 percent regenerative braking so you can slow  

down without using the mechanical brakes at all; 
putting more energy into recharging your battery.  

The regular brake levers now have position sensors 
to give you more regen the harder you pull,  

unlike typical brake levers which only switch 
regen fully-on or off. The third unusual thing  

Apollo did was to use drum brakes front and 
rear. They're much less likely to lock up,  

and you can do a brake adjustment without any 
tools, and from my experience running fleets  

of thousands of scooters, I can tell you drum 
brakes last about 10 times as long as disc brakes.  

The City Pro Stops from 15 miles per 
hour in a very respectable 12.3 feet.  

Climbing hills is where having dual motors makes 
all the difference. The dual-motor Apollo City  

Pro climbed our test-hill 20 percent faster than 
the original Apollo City. I also had no trouble  

keeping up with the flow of city traffic even 
on the steep four-to-six-percent hills in our  

range test circuit. The City Pro is fast, but 
still easy to ride which is exactly what you
