 At lower refresh rates, fast still is the best mode, even down to 60 Hz. Now, I'm not a big fan of only getting three overdrive modes, two of which are useless to make matters worse. But the remaining mode actually is optimal throughout the refresh rate range. So I'm totally okay with that

The AW2721D is a 240 Hz 1440p monitor with an IPS display. This monitor is awesome for pretty much everything including gaming and creating content.

Alienware AW2721D Review - Testing Shroud's Monitor

 I'm using a VESA certified KableDirekt DP 1.4 cable and two high end HDMI 2.0 cables, very tight and unnecessarily crowded port area, there’s plenty of space to spread them out more.  - Noticeable overshoot in MS Office, web browsing (text) and other apps when using the faster or higher response time setting, sometimes noticeable during gaming as well, you are left using the slowest setting, fast

  + The stand is monolithic, wow - just wow, it truly looks the part, I love the Alienware logo on the front as well, surprised they just now added this, should have been there all along. Definitely a huge fan of the construction and quality of it, among, if not the best available.  + Monitor does not have wake or sleep issues with PC, tested this multiple times, no issues. Ensure in device manager, it does not say PnP Monitor, that you actually load the drivers and it reflects AW2721D

  + Standard color mode offers the best, and most accurate colors, RTS and RPG are the most colorful, nice thing is you can have independent settings for each input. RPG is the best balance of all of them, the most versatile.  + The stand is monolithic, wow - just wow, it truly looks the part, I love the Alienware logo on the front as well, surprised they just now added this, should have been there all along. Definitely a huge fan of the construction and quality of it, among, if not the best available

 I’m able to use the AW2521HFL with extreme settings and no discernible overshoot occurs.  - THE BIG ONE - As of right now, the EDID does not allow this monitor accept a 4K signal. The PS4 Pro only recognizes up to a 1080p signal, just wow! It will not accept a 4K signal for console gaming nor for Netflix over HDMI. This demonstrates a serious disconnect with many gamers who like to use the HDMI ports on their monitors for their gaming consoles, Roku, Apple TV etc

Amazing Potential - Offset by Poor EDID and Firmware!

 What is up everyone, it's Mark from Silence Tech and hope you're keeping well. Dell very kindly sent out their Alienware AW2721D which features an IPS 1440p 1ms 240Hz panel with adaptive sync. I'm excited to see how this monitor performs since I've been using a TN 1440p 0.5ms 240Hz panel for the past year

 I found it invaded my mouse pad once the display was at my preferred viewing distance. There is a built in cable tidy hole and RGB lighting that really makes this monitor look the part. Compared to my Y27GQ-25 the AW2721D is clearly a much better looking monitor. Adjustments such as tilt, height, swivel and rotate are also much smoother

0s. The display in this AW2721D features an LG Nano IPS panel and I can honestly say it looks jaw dropping at times. While the contrast is not the best like all IPS panels, it has an excellent peak brightness, topping out at well over its rated 450 nits, around 550, even in HDR mode the monitor performs over its rated 600 nits. Viewing angles as you would expect, the IPS panel far surpasses my TN Lenovo monitor when viewed from side to side or above

The Best Monitor EVER MADE? Alienware AW2721D Review!

 The aw 2721d is a new high-end. 27-Inch 1440p monitor giving us our first look at the combination of a 240hz refresh rate and ips technology. At this resolution, alienware touting a true one, millisecond greater grey response time here, we'll see about that. But we do know the monitor, uses a latest generation lg ips panel, so we're expecting performance, that's similar to other lg rps products

 The whole thing is much heavier than i expected, although this allows it to be very sturdy, and while the majority of the outer materials are plastic, i think it looks quite premium with its mixture of black and white soft finishes, i'm not a fan of the large 27 printed onto the rear, but outside of that it's a pretty clean body with some nice curves rgb lighting is found here integrated into a light bar on the back of the stand, as well as the classic alien head logo. This isn't a huge selling point for me, but it is something that other people find important tucked neatly behind the magnetic port cover are a display port and two hdmi ports, plus some usb ports. You'Ll need to use displayport to access the maximum 240hz refresh rate, as hdmi is limited to just 144hz at this resolution, and this display does not support. Hdmi 2

Another important point on the spec sheet is that of g-sync ultimate support, although it's the new, watered-down g-sync ultimate, not the high standard, the program, once commanded g-sync ultimate used to be for the best hdr displays on the market, but that's not the case in 2021, as The aw2721d has somehow qualified, despite having just display hdr 600 certification and only edgelit local dimming. It is hdr compatible and features 98 dc ip3 coverage, so we'll see how it performs a bit later

 This is also the first monitor review on the channel using our new test methodology. That'S been updated for 2021, so if you missed our previous video detailing all of that, it's well worth the watch. Alienware AW2721D Review, Strong IPS Performance at 1440p 240Hz

If you want your multiplayer and single-player games to look their best at 1440p, the Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor should be a top pick on your list.

Once in a while, a gaming monitor comes along that truly does it all. Until now, the holder of that title in the 27-inch 1440p category had been the stellar $649 Razer Raptor 27, but this year the $769.99 Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor (AW2721D) seizes the crown. Featuring a sturdy, highly ergonomic stand lined with on-brand LED light strips, the Alienware 27 is a marvel of design and construction quality while also pumping out beautiful onscreen action

We test monitors with a Datacolor SpyderX Elite&nbsp;colorimeter, a&nbsp;Murideo SIX-G&nbsp;signal generator, and&nbsp;Portrait Displays' CalMAN 5&nbsp;software.

 Many players of Valorant, especially aspiring esports pros, will say that 1440p resolution is overkill for their game, and they're mostly right. However, if you're one of the millions who like to play multiplayer games and don't happen to mind if they look good at the same time (what a concept!), the Alienware 27 will get both jobs done with aplomb.

Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor (AW2721D) Review

  Only issues: 1) Monitor Stand is massive - will have to buy a monitor arm (any recommendations would be appreciated) 2) My box was damaged, missing DP Cable in the box (not Dell's fault). 3) Very inconvenient cable placement, you must take off the removable back panel and swing it around to connect, while this might not be an issue for some, with such a big stand and not a lot of desk room, it is a bit of a hinderance. But it does look clean, so this CON depends on the user. 4) Alienware Command Center cannot locate the monitor (not a big deal, I didn't buy it for the lighting features anyway, but it could be a problem for some gamers) 5) The stand pushes the monitor very forward, not a deal breaker, the monitor arm will fix this issue but from the back of the stand to the front of the monitor, it is around 9 inches, which is a problem if you have a narrow desk

This is my 5th monitor purchase from Dell (first Alienware model) and it doesn't disappoint. Very well made monitor, I was skeptical in buying Nano-IPS monitor because people complain it gave them headaches and eyestrain, well - it is the opposite for me - probably the only monitor I ever owned that doesn't give me any problems and I have very sensitive retina.  Now its Osd buttons are certainly finicky, but the rest of the overall build quality and the stand of the monitor is certainly impressive here. You've got a three side borderless design, and while the bottom bezel could be a little bit more premium lifting, I have no certain inherent issues here. The 27 inch form factor doesn't take up too much space on terms of my setup. Now, you have also got a fully adjustable stand whereby you've got height, tilt, pivot, and rotation available to you

 Now here, the standard mode doesn't give you that much of a good response time, while the advanced mode has a good blend between the overall response time of the monitor and the amount of inverse ghosting that you're going to occur. Now, in the Super Fast mode, you will notice significant amount of overshoot. Now, this is perfectly playable, at least in my opinion when you're playing a potato game such as Cs Go. If, however, you're playing anything graphically intense such as let's say, even valorent or even let's say, Halo Infinite, or Destiny 2

ViewSonic XG2705-2K review: Affordable 1440p 144Hz gaming monitor!

If you are really concerned about response times, the MSI MAG274QRF-QD is up there, review for that monitor available here: [[URL REMOVED] for the ViewSonic XG2705-2K, I'm really interested in this monitor as well. It uses the same panel as the VX2705-2PK-MHD, which is a successor to the popular VX2758-2PK-MHD. My concern is that the older model has a lot of reports of flickering at 144 Hz (which can be fixed by lowering the refresh rate to say, 142 Hz). There are no reviews for these updated models so it's hard to know if the issue is still there

Input lag and response times on IPS monitors are excellent nowadays, coming pretty close to TN performance. Since you are going up to 144 Hz it should in fact feel a lot faster, and ghosting shouldn't be an issue for high-end IPS monitors, but more budget options seem to do a decent job as well.

I  currently have a Dell SX2210 21.5" monitor @ 1080p 60Hz and have always  been very happy with it for gaming (FPS, MOBA).  Now ready to upgrade  and my current favourite (and I'm limited on budget) is the ViewSonic  XG2705-2K 27" @ 1440p 144Hz with FreeSync for AU$499 from Scorptec.

The  main thing I'm concerned about is that in going from TN panel to an IPS  panel, I'll start to notice input lag and/or response time issues  (ghosting, etc.).  Can anyone confirm if this is likely or not?
