Maybe stretch your budget a juuuuuuuuust a little bit and buy a JX pro and a Flair Classic. I bought the 1zpresso Q2 and it is a tank - amazing grinder for sure - but I wish I saved up a little more for the JX Pro. When I bought the Q2, a month after that I was just angry because it is a great grinder with quality build that could have been perfect if I had just bought the more expensive version.

 However, in spite of the multiple settings for the coarseness of the grind, I wish there was even a finer setting as I have to use the highest setting the entire time. The lower settings are way too coarse. It is very easy to grind the beans and it is extremely portable, though a bit heavy if you are watching your carry-on weight when traveling. Taking it completely apart to clean will be daunting for some people; they should buy an electric coffee grinder! I like its ease of use and portability

Pros and cons

 Cleanup easy with supplied brush. It works well with AeroPress however I still grind into the cup and dump it into the AeroPress, rather than grinding directly into it. Grinding directly into it causes the coffee particles to stick to the walls of AeroPress (I wonder if that is electrostatic effect or just particles sticking to plastic walls) all over instead of falling down neatly to the bottom. I don't find direct grind even convenient - it is just so much easier to hold entire grinder in the hands

I decided to give pour-over-coffee a try, and so I bought this Chemex with a gooseneck electric kettle. Currently I am using a cheap $20 blade grinder, but even then the resulting coffee from this is amazing. My first attempt I failed miserably because my coffee grinds were too course. Second attempt I got much better results, and I was amazed at the flavor

  One thing to point out - this does NOT come with any filters! I fully expected there to at least be a small trial pack of filters included in the box given the price. When the box arrived I found that was not the case, so I had to order and wait on a metal filter insert to arrive. For the amount of money spent on a cheap glass vase basically, I would have expected a couple of filters in the box at least.  The make of this product is cheap

Sometimes you need to know when not to be cheap.

 The coffee grinder uses about 125 ML of coffee beans and that seems to be just the right amount for four measuring cups of hot water. It took some experimentation on my part to find a setting for the grinder which suited me and the coffee pot. I'd say my grind is a bit coarser than a medium grind.  I use the unbleached coffee filters and pour a little hot water through the filter before I add the coffee

 I think rinsing the filter removes or at least minimizes the taste of the paper filter and it also warms the pot a little before you pour the larger portion of the just off the boil water into the pot. I've been using Mocha Java coffee which is medium blend and I drink it black so i might be making my coffee lighter than people who use cream and sugar. Presently I'm reheating my cups of coffee in the microwave, but I'm considering getting an insulated stainless steel carafe to store the coffee and keep it hot. A friend says microwaving the coffee makes it bitter, but I have to believe he's overheating the coffee because I don't get that from just warming it up, so I'm undecided about the carafe at present

I had one of these years ago and forgot why I didn't like it. While it is very stylish and makes an initial nice cup of coffee it loses heat very quickly. And reheating on the stove is not the best.

You control the variables

 It was, however, nice and strong and full bodied. You get a little bit of bitterness at the bottom of the carafe if you drink the whole thing (which I did obviously) but I would say that what you get at the bottom is roughly the same as what you get from the best French press. There's practically no sediment at the bottom of the carafe when you get to the end and the coffee is very very good.  One caveat here: As this coffee maker has no heating elements, there is no way of keeping the coffee warm for an extended period of time

If you drink coffee as fast and addictively as I do, then that's not a problem, but if you drink it more slowly and leisurely, I recommend getting some kind of thermal carafe to keep the coffee warm.  All in all, a very worthwhile investment

  The coffee I used was medium fine ground Caribou Obsidian Dark Roast which is a current favorite. (I like strong coffee)  I used 1/3 cup of coffee grounds and made about the capacity of the coffee maker I think. (I personally don't consider this to be 8 cups but then I drink my coffee out of a Wile E. Coyote coffee mug of which I got 3 mugs full out of this brewing)  It takes a little bit of time to make the coffee
