 The easy answer to this question is yes, but I am not intending to use it on my South Island leg of Teodoro next year. Mainly this has to do with the kind of terrain that I will be hiking in the South Island and a real big desire for me to try and get my base weight down as low as possible. So I have some ideas for packs that I'm potentially going to be looking at for that purpose. but also I generally just found that the art hall was much larger than I actually needed whilst I was on trail

 But I would just say bear in mind that they are a Us-based company and so if you're purchasing this pack and using it overseas, you might not get quite the same service as you would if you were in the Us. Okay, so we are coming up to the end of this review and I'm sure that the question you are all dying to know is whether I will keep using this pack in the future. ZPacks Arc Haul Review - 1000 Mile Gear Review of my Thru Hiking Backpack

* Potentially better weight distribution (order of access doesn’t matter when loading the pack, your tarp, tent, or quilt could be on top)

The last style I wanted to bring up was the front loader. Zpacks and ULA are the 2 main UL companies making packs of this style from what I can tell (but I’d love to hear if there are others I don’t know about). Zpacks has the [Arc Haul Zip]([URL REMOVED] and ULA has the [Camino 2]([URL REMOVED] have concerns about this style as it feels like the zipper could fail easier on this style than a back panel loading pack. Both Zpacks and ULA have straps going across the pack to help this, but I’m not sure if that’s enough?

Matt over at RedPaw is a friend of mine and sent over the following photos of his personal Flatiron pack for [an example for this post]([URL REMOVED] center zip is the smallest opening of the three examples I’m writing about, but it’s also the lightest.  This is not a pack I would suggest for any beginner or newbie to get their hands on because there's so much to it to figure out. and if you're just learning how to backpack, this is probably not the pack for you. But if you're somebody who does a lot of four and five day trips, or you're somebody who does a lot of through hiking on some longer trails, this is a fantastic pack. You can load it down with a ton of gear and it carries extremely well

 These are 399 dollars, but you're spending money on an investment. Like I said, this pack can last you a long time because of the fact that you can change out the hip belt and because of all the adjustments that you can make on the backpack. This is not a pack I would suggest for any beginner or newbie to get their hands on because there's so much to it to figure out. and if you're just learning how to backpack, this is probably not the pack for you

The LARGEST BACKPACK Under 2lbs in the WORLD!!!  Zpacks Arc Haul Ultra

 Hello! I don’t post much on here so hopefully this doesn’t get flagged as spam or anything. 

I’m starting an AT flip flop thru hike from Harper’s Ferry in early May and I’m thinking about swapping out my pack. I currently have an Osprey Aura AG 50L which I like a lot. It’s the only pack I’ve ever had but I find it very comfortable- I like the way the back mesh is continuous with the hip belt and distributes the weight over such a large area. The only problem with it is the weight: 3.7 pounds is sort of overkill for a summer base weight under 12 pounds, right? And I have a lot of space left over in it anyway. I could take easily take two pounds off by switching to a different pack. I was looking at [GG Gorilla 50](https://www.gossamergear.com/products/gorilla-50?variant=30212702668#sizing) (29.8 oz) or one of the Zpacks Arc series. I don’t like that the Gorilla isn’t adjustable, though (I have scoliosis so getting a pack to fix exactly right is extra important to me). I think the [Zpack Arc Air 50 (Robic fabric)](https://zpacks.com/products/arc-air-50l-robic-backpack?variant=32510209556516) is my top choice, but I’m hesitant to make the switch to a UL pack when not all of my gear is strictly UL… I’m linking my lighterpack below. I’m also a little worried about switching so close to my departure date- Zpacks can take up to 3 weeks to ship so I’d only have two weekends to give it a spin. Do you think I’m okay to switch, at least for my summer gear? I could always switch back to my osprey when I add colder weather gear towards the end of the hike. I’d appreciate any advice or input, either addressing this question or anything else you notice from looking at my list.

<p>EDIT: Thanks for all the input! Pretty sure I&#39;m now deciding between the GG Gorilla 50 and the <a href="https://www.ula-equipment.com/product/ohm-2-0/">ULA Ohm 2.0</a>. I&#39;ll probably order both and see which one feels better, and if they both feel awful compared to my aura, I guess that&#39;s that. Fingers crossed. </p>

Zpacks Women's Arc Haul Ultra | Overview

I backpack a bunch. One AT thru hike and a bunch of other stuff. Here are the backpacks I have used so far.

1. Osprey Talon 44. Still don't understand why this is not a more used ultralight pack. It was my pack for 2190 miles. It was trashed, I am not sentimental, I threw it away after my thru hike.
2. On the last 170 miles of the Long Trail I used the Granite Gear Vapor Trail 60 limited edition. Bought it because it was cheap. It worked well but wanted to get lighter. I let a friend borrow it a few months ago don't know if I will get it back or use again.
3. Gossamer Gear G4-20. Used it 14+ nights so far replaced the back pad with Various CCF pads. Worked well but not 5+ days or during the winter because of lack of frame. I still own this and will use again for everything 3 season less than 3 or 4 days.
4. Just ordered a HMG 3400 Southwest. I am thinking great winter and 5+ day pack and good for places you need a bear can.

 And so I emailed Zpax just asking if they'd be open to doing a little bit of an experiment with me to see whether their sizing and frame structure would help me in in managing the pain in my back. And probably now me and this thing have done a good five. six hundred miles. Uh, and you know it was really hard for me actually to swap over from my Osprey exos because I'm you know how it is, you build a relationship with your kit

Zpacks Arc Haul Ultra 60L Backpack Review | Filmed In Iceland!

<div class="md"><p>I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction. In order of importance to me, I am looking for a backpack that is:</p>

<ul>
<li>Waterproof, in the sense that I won&#39;t need to worry about rain / weather.  I will be using an internal liner bag as a second line of defense, but I do not want to have to use a pack cover.</li>
<li>Ventilated in the part that contacts my back. My back gets really sweaty while hiking, so I figured a trampoline or arced style (or similar) would help.</li>
<li>Durable.</li>
<li>Light, of course.</li>
</ul>

<p>External water bottle pockets would also be nice.  As far as capacity goes, I think the minimum I could get away with is 35L, but bigger would be better.</p>

<p>Laminate materials such as X-Pac or Ultra 200 seem like they tick most of my boxes.  I just have been struggling to find a backpack made with such materials that also features the ventilated back-contact area.</p>

<p>Here are some of the options that have come up in my searches so far:</p>

<ul>
<li><a href="https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003301566396.html">MOBI GARDEN Mirage 45+8L Ultralight Pro Backpack from Aliexpress</a> - this one seems like exactly what I&#39;m looking for, except I tried to ask what kind of X-Pac they use and was told they didn&#39;t have an answer.  If this uses a really light fabric like VX07, then durability could be an issue.  Also I&#39;m not sure about spending nearly $200 on a Chinese backpack that has no real reviews.</li>
<li>SWD Ultralight Movement Pack - extra points for being made in the best state, but I suspect the lycra mesh and foam back pad aren&#39;t actually that wicking / breathable.</li>
<li>Six Moon Designs Swift X - not sure about the back-contact 3D mesh, and they explicitly state that the pack is not waterproof, though the material used is.  I assume this just means the seams are not sealed, which I could do myself.</li>
<li>LiteAF Ultra 46L Curve Full Suspension - I think the idea is that the &quot;curve&quot; keeps the pack mostly off your back to allow for air flow, but I could be mistaken.</li>
</ul>

<p>These all seem good, but they also all seem like compromises in some way. Does what I&#39;m looking for exist? Any reviews of the above options or further recommendations would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.</p>

Waterproof, Ventilated Back-Contact Backpack - Does it exist?

 the load lifters have it off of my shoulders. That arc part of the arc call has got the weight away from my back. I can feel wonderful cross breeze going through. my back is not sweating at all other than just from exertion

 It is a framed pack with a little trampoline. This one on their website says it weighs around 20 ounces. I've got two of the hip pouch pockets and mine weighs in at 23 and a half ounces roughly. so

 amazing. They uh, they took the weight right off of my shoulders and transferred it down to this wide hip belt. Transferred it down to there perfectly. That wide padded hip belt felt phenomenal

 Uh, so far, three miles in I had to make one small adjustment to the chest strap and one small adjustment to the belt. That was it thing is carrying weight beautifully even uphill downhill. the load lifters have it off of my shoulders. That arc part of the arc call has got the weight away from my back
