I just bought a Vox AC10 as an upgrade to my starter amp and it is unbelieveable how much better it sounds. I can't stop playing it.

This is not the amp of the old days when the Beatles cranked them up. This is a whole new thing that leaves too many loose ends. First I have a AC 30 made in England and this amp is not a little brother or even a third cousin. This is 100% Chinese with mistakes, they put the wrong speaker in this 10...

Fender is a ridiculously clean sound (super popular for pedal platforms). Marshall can give you some of the classic crunchy tones. Then there are plenty of other options, too, as you move away from the "classics". For $500 and Vox, I'd go for the AC10, personally.

My other amp is a Fender Blues Deluxe and I'm very used to it. It's hard to compare. They are in different cities and I played them with different guitars. I never played them side by side. The Fender is in another league and price range. Maybe I should not compare them but now that I bought the Vox...

It's a loud 15 watts! Your budget leaves room for an attenuator, which I wholeheartedly recommend if you're going for a tube amp for bedroom use. You can also look at the Marshall Origin 20, Vox AC10 or 15, or a used Princeton (for excellent clean tones).

well....i got mine for a a whole lot less than this price so that is one reason i love mine....it was a demo model....in original box for almost 1/2 this price.....i would not pay the current price for one.....the reverb on this amp is not good, at all, trust me, it is awful....if you dont use rever...
