 Finally, we have an onboard reverb, and in this case it's a digital reverb, but Roland has really effectively recreated the sound of a spring. Here's what the reverb at 25% we can bring that up, make the signal wetter. We get that nice springy sound of a spring reverb. gives us a nice tail on the end and has that bloom that a spring reverb provides as well

 I've turned the modulation effects off so we're getting the dry sound. I'm going to bring the distortion up to 25% Here's what it sounds like at 50% and here's what: The distortion all the way up. So having that distortion on board gives us a lot of variety to our tone. We can add in just a little bit of grit

 We've got bass, mid, and treble controls for shaping the sound, and we also have onboard distortion. Now let's listen to what the distortion sounds like. I've turned the modulation effects off so we're getting the dry sound. I'm going to bring the distortion up to 25% Here's what it sounds like at 50% and here's what: The distortion all the way up

 For today's demo, I'm playing a Gibson Memphis ES 330, which is a hollow body guitar with P90 pickups. Here's the dry sound that comes out of one of the speakers in a JC 40. You can hear the JC 40 like all the jazz chorus amps, has a very pure, uncoloured neutral tone. This makes it great for straight guitar playing, but it also makes it a great platform for effects pedals

 But the JC-120 is so pure and clean that it is the perfect amp for any guitarist who already uses external effects (like a POD or separate pedals). I no longer even use the built in reverb and chorus (though both are top notch) mostly because I play through a Pod XT Live, and my sounds already have reverb and such built in.  If you're looking for the purest clean sounds that bring out the full range of tones from your guitar, you can't go wrong. A classic that survives the times

 The built in chorus is legendary, it can be heard on many famous songs, some reggae (Sublime to Bob Marley) and some get very heavy (Metallica). The distortion should be called "drive" or "boost", it helps boost my tube screamer but that's about all. If you use more pedals and do not use a looper I could see how it would take some tone out. Look into a solid programmable looper if you have 6-8 or more pedals

. Here is why: Before trying this amplifier I used a Bad Cat Cougar 50 in my Texas Reggae band. The tube amp was a little too much for what we were trying to do so I bought a Jc120. This amp gave us the sound we had been looking for

I just bought a Vox AC10 as an upgrade to my starter amp and it is unbelieveable how much better it sounds. I can't stop playing it.

I have a little blackstar amp that i bought with my guitar. It has a few inbuilt effects and presets. I have a looper pedal and a wah pedal.

I use looper a lot with drum loops, and its annoying having to apply reverb etc. to the whole mix. So i want to get some reverb and dist/OD pedal. (Currently thinkint a tube screamer mini and tc skysurfer but again i dont know.much about what is out there)
 
This would mean i wont use any of the inbuilt effect but instead a rack of pedals going through a very quiet and not very satisfying amp. I will eventually get a louder better amp without any effects. But i only have the money for pedals or a new amp.

What would you do? What is more fun? 

I have never played through anything more then shitty starter amps. And never used effects pedals bar wah so i dont know what to do here. I basically just wanna have fun with it.

Should i invest in pedals or a 'real amp'? [GEAR]

 there's volume gain, bass treble, and verb. There is a 10-inch Celestion speaker speaker. it is Av X 10. Tubes are 12 to 12 Ax7 s and 2 El84 s for that

 so why don't I just spin some knobs and you can see what it does. We came in I had that gain up, but turn it down right now, just up a tiny bit and leave everything else kind of where it is. You can see what it does now. this right there with the gain all the way down the volume, right half way up

 try to travel down and just for giggles, base of trouble all the way up. Now let's try with the Telecaster. So now I've got single coils of this telly on and I'm going to run the game straight up volume, straight up verbs, song a little bit, bass up and treble back a little bit because I find that the trouble is a little high in D on this and it will be really pronounced on it telly with that. So I'll just show you kind of what it does to me

 You can see what it does now. this right there with the gain all the way down the volume, right half way up. it's roughly just as long as it was coming in. The gain, you know, jack up there and you can hear it just kind of starting to distort a little bit, but that's a great tone, just starting to kind of get a little bit nasty on you

Review Demo - Vox AC10C1 Custom

 clean is jangly. Yeah, yeah, it is a little clean jungly. you give me some phlegm salt. Okay, so this is staying with a relatively clean sound on the outer file or a cleanest sound and using a drive pedal on a relatively low setting to get some little bit less reverb

 God come out with that's really really this is good. think of my own in front of its not and I think it would be Giga but not not reversible because we're rehearsing, you don't tend to my cup whereas gigging you do yeah tree and you get the feedback from the wedge whereas gigging a bracing you've got to go over a kit in a room and they always turn up I don't reckon you could rehearse with that, but I think you could gig with it? it's it's I mean Santa cloud in here so I'm really really liking this I don't know if you want to hit whatever I think you want to go plimsoll nice and uh show me your lead you Oh you me bit heavy, bit heavier than that's these are the death metal version of it's only love all the songs like Bryan Adams I want to see those like if you drop Tootie No well I'm not hit the plimsoll you me great yes best folks I've ever played it I Have to admit at this kind of volume and for just ease of getting a good tone I would agree we don't you know? I'm a big fan of Ac15 and Ac30, but they've always needed to, you know, be honked up a bit and a certain tone dialed in. but this thing is, turn it on. plug it in and you'll get good times

 Absolutely that was mental. One of the nicer sounds we've had. this room please Vox sound good on YouTube I'm sure. Well I have fun cuz it sounds it meant by fire and even if it doesn't you gotta have the YouTube public
