I take it Miele is fine, and maybe Smeg? Really, as long as I can essentially have something last for years AND be decently energy efficient that's absolutely fantastic. Are there other brands I should consider?.

I just bought this mixer and used this couple of times already. I love the product. Quality is excellent, speed is great. Love everything about it.

Smeg machines are beautiful (if that's you're thing - they wouldn't look right in my kitchen, for example) but they don't have a reputation for making good coffee (not a bad one, they just don't have one at all I think). Check out the list of [SCA-certified home see which ones are available to buy where you live. If your budget is constrained, it's cheaper to get a manual setup (a V60, French press, Clever dripper or Aeropress are all great choices), if you want this to be a hobby - you'll learn a new skill as well.

My house came with a Smeg dishwasher, oven, and washing machine. It's less than 10 years old and we have had problems with all of them. So far we've been able to fix bits, but tbh I'm expecting to replace them all in the coming years.
