New combo for the Shimano fanboy in me
Shimano 6’10” medium is supposed to be a tremendous jerkbait rod. I have a 2 Zodias rods with the carbon monocoque handle and LOVE them, the poison adrena is so much nicer too!! I saw a Shimano Posion Adrena with a Shimano Scorpion DC last night on the offer up app for $300. I so wish I had the extra money cause I would have snapped it up immediately.
quality product really helps with distance and accuracy casting
It takes some getting used to, but then it is a really nice reel. Won't completely eliminate all backlash in every situation, but definietly helps reduce by a considerable margin. It could have a bit more powerful drag.

2021 SHIMANO SCORPION DC is HERE!!! Unboxing and Analysis... is it WORTHY?
Basically these are bass reels, but with this new Scorpion Dc, Shimano wanted to make it more versatile and they wanted you to be able to use this to target inshore species like rockfish, sea bass, and I guess here in America it would be like a redfish or speckled trout. so they gave it bigger line capacity to be able to hold more heavy line for those harder fighting bigger saltwater and inshore fish.

My shimano Curado DC 150HG paired with a G Loomis NRX 853C JWR. I don’t have many casting combos but this is still one of my favorites
I bought a scorpion DC and a met 20, with them I didn't use the curado DC anymore. Anyway last couple of trips I have been using it again. And it really is a smooth great casting reel.
My favorite
By far my favorite reel. I’ve got the curado and the metanium but this one is the smoothest. Takes a little while to get all the setting dialed in but once you’ve got them it’s a dream.

21 SCORPION DC REVIEW (New Favorite Shimano Fishing Reel)
We have now tested this thing out pretty much from maximum to minimum. I'd never put it on the windy setting just because it wasn't really applicable today. Well safe to say there's no more light left

Looking for a new Baitcaster around the 450nzd mark
I don’t think you would be disappointed with the Exsence at all. For salt I would personally choose that over the Scorpion DC but that’s just me. Also worth looking at the Daiwa Coastal TWS.

What baitcaster to get?
If i was going to spend Curado money (~250) I’d splurge another 30 for the Scorpion DC (~280) with the IDC5 chip instead of the IDC4 in the Curado and SLX. - For me 60 extra bucks wasn’t worth the micro gears, but 90 extra would be worth it for the better DC chip and micro gears. IDC5 chip is the same chip as the metanium DC. Surpassed only by reels $650+ containing DC7.
