Then I replaced it next day with the new Q850a at Best Buy. Has rears and eArc. My LG CX has an eArc port. After watching DUNE again, I noticed extra sounds that I missed out on.

Samsung HW-Q850A/ZA (a little out of price range at about $680 on sale). Vizio SB46514-F6 (older 2018 Vizio model for $399 at Costco). It's going to be for a bedroom and would love the surround sound aspect , but understand a few of the options don't have that unless I were to add to it later.

Are the Samsung SWA-9100S worth it for Q900T soundbars?

I leave mine at 0 or 1 and it is perfectly balanced for my set up. Especially for multichannel stereo listening. The review on Rtings for the q850a should give you a good idea what to expect.

Why not get a Samsung? Then you can take advantage of Q-Symphony, which sounds really nice - increases the sound stage, clearer voices. HW-Q850A is on sale at Best Buy for $700 (Because it is the 2021 model). I strongly recommend this combo, and at that price it is a bargain.

Recommendations for soundbar

I almost pulled the trigger on Sonos Arc, only holdback was price ($799) plus I would be locked into a Sonos subwoofer if I wanted to add it on later. Then I ran across a deal at Best Buy that swayed me to get a Samsung HW-Q850A 5.1.2 (basically the 800A with rear speakers bundled) for $749 with a $250 Best Buy gift card, so effectively $500.

Did I dive too deep?

Having the rears (or surrounds) not in place probably won't sound weird for sports, but for games and movies it will. A 3.1 I think is the minimum definite upgrade from TV speakers, and the biggest noticeable step up. If you are in the US, best buy has a long return policy for the holidays, and the q850a (what I have) is on sale, among a good deal others. It may be worth buying a soundbar without explicit intentions to use it just to tinker with your setup and see how it sounds.

Benefits of like-brand products?

Bought an open box LG SN9YG but couldn't get it through Google home to link it to the LG soundbar app so I exchanged it for a new LG SN8YG and same thing happened so I returned that and found an open box Samsung HW-Q850A. Although I can't use Q Symphony or space fit, I couldn't be any happier since the soundbar linked up to my samsung things so I can use the app with the soundbar.
